Description Some more of the lovely photos from Colossalcon. Like I've said before, beautiful place, really. Colossalcon took place June 7-10, 2012 at Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky, OH.

I made the cosplay and recieved BEAUTIFUL reception for it. A woman and her husband came up to me and said, "I'm sorry to bother you, but my husband's a professional reinacter and loves the pirate history and he says you totally nailed the costume." Feel free to ask me for any tips or help if you have questions!

I competed in the Masquerade, did well for my division (did not win, however), and will compete with this again for Animarathon 2013.

I do not own Hetalia, just the cosplay.

Answer to my prayers!!!!
I was JUST looking for a guideline or something for how to make this cosplay! I have boots, a gun, a pirate patch, gloves. and a ruffly white shirt but I was wondering how you did the jacket.

Like how did you get the shoulders and the buttons and cuffs on it?
And did you make the pirate hat yourself as well?

And your wig looks great, where did you get it?
Sorry, I have lots of questions...

By the way, this is a great cosplay indeed!

No problem! I love questions! I just hope I have answers for ya!

1)I used a Simplicity pattern for the jacket (a woman's winter coat style) and BASED it off of that. It was basically a more difficult version of "panel, panel, panel, panel, SLEEVES!". To get the fold overs, I had to machine sew them down, do the buttons, and rip the seams out to get the fold flair.

2)Oh, you're gonna laugh when I tell you about the shoulder pads: Cut out 2 identical pieces of cardboard, cover them in a soft yellow, get bordered "ribbon" and those little dangeley yellow strands. I also added buttons for flair. I glued the pads down, but you're supposed to button them aparently. I didn't know how, so I didn't.
The trick with the sleeve cuffs is to make the sleeves longer than you're supposed to so you can fold them over and sew a tiny bit to the sleeve to make it stay. For the buttons, I hand sewed each one (make sure they're alinged!).
And yes, I "made" the hat. I stripped a Costume Hliday House one to a bare minimun and added just about everything to it.

3) I got the wig at Youmacon, but not sure who it was. Sorry! :_:

And thanks for the compliment! I hope this helps a little!

If I had to guess, I'd say 30+ hours between handsewing the buttons on, making the hat, TORTURING myself with the coat and shoulder pads, and styling the wig. Wow... I did a lot of crazy things... maybe over 40+ hours...
