  Sakura is a headstrong and passionate girl. When she sees something she wants she'll put 110% to make it hers. Her confidence knows no bounds and as such the word 'No' doesn't exist in her vocabulary. Yet despite being so dedicated to her passions, getting her to focus on anything else can be an ordeal, and trying to change her mind is an even bigger chore. As a result, there are some rather large holes in what she knows ranging from basic academic skills like history and math. Yet despite these shortfalls Sakura is assured that they wont stop her from achieving her dreams! (And also she doesn't need to invest in improving her weaknesses either because her strengths will clearly outshine those anyways!)

Biography:

  Sakura hails from the humble region of Hokkaido, born in a village that was known for its rice paddies, tourism, motorbikes.. and that's about it. The Tanaka's had always been known for two things among the villagers 1) being farmers 2) being one of the richest families in the region. Sakura's parents were often away, checking in on the various farms and homesteads the Tanaka's came to own over the many generations of farming and smart business practices. As such Sakura and her two brothers Haruki and Soma were raised by their grandparents. None of this really bothered Sakura as both of her grandparents were especially doting to their youngest grandchild, always giving her compliments, sneaking her extra desserts and such. As a result Sakura had a rather high ego from a young age.

  When she was about 10 years old her family was invited to attend a graduation ceremony for Haruki, who was graduating from elementary school to middle school that year. It was decided that the family would make a day of it, getting all dressed up with the plan to go out to a fancy restaurant afterwards to celebrate.

During there ceremony a little talent show was held where various clubs put on performances celebrating the 6th graders accomplishments over the years. It was during one of the performances either a string of fate or by a stroke of luck, a talent scout's eye was caught. He was taking a vacation at the time and he was so impressed by the performance he asked that student to join his studio as the newest idol for his group.

  From then on that student went on a fast track to stardom, and with it the whole town was in an uproar of gossip of that student and their family. Most of the gossip was positive, centering around the fact that FINALLY this town had something to boast about beyond farms and motorbikes. But for Sakura she hated every bit of it.

   She was at that ceremony. Why didn't the talent agent notice HER there? She was wearing just as cute of a dress, just as cute of a hairstyle, and could smile just as sweetly! It was so unfair! Was she simply ignored because she wasn't on that stage? She vowed from that day forward she'd do whatever it took to get up on that stage and make the world she she was just as talented NO! even MORE talented than that hillbilly who stole the spotlight from her! (even though the spotlight wasn't hers to begin with)

But how to do that? For that answer she turned to her smart older brother Haruki for advice. In which he replied:

"Oh you know, Grandma Mayumi was a beauty pageant winner. I bet she could train you"



And so for two years Sakura trained under the guidance of her grandmother. Learning all the secrets to home economics life. How to bake the perfect cake. How to sew the perfect kimono and how to walk the catwalk with said kimono so that it was shown in the best life. How to answer interview questions that were both smart and eloquent- but also fit in the 30 second time limit for discussion. And finally after all of that training.....!

Everyone was still talking about that hillbilly and how their training progress was resulting in the entire family moving to Tokyo for a better high school education.

It wasn't fair! Why wasn't this working! Sakura was perfectly eloquent and divine! Why didn't anyone notice her? Was she not loud enough? Could they just not hear her? Frustrated and annoyed, Sakura once again turned to her older brother Haruki for advice, in which he replied:

"You know, Grandpa Saburou used to do taiko drumming performances when he was our age. I bet he could teach you a thing or two for one of the summer festivals"

And so for two years Sakura trained under the guidance of her grandfather, learning everything she could about drumming. And when she completed that she began to dig up other instruments she found in the attic of the house, learning as much she could on the tonkori. And finally after all the training....!

That hillbilly was on TV! performing among other idols! And people loved them all so much! It was infuriating! Sakura almost cried in frustration! By then her even older and far more wiser brother Soma pointed just what was going on and said:

"Uh you know Haruki was kidding with all that stuff right? if you want to be famous all you have to do is become an idol. there's plenty of schools out there dedicated to that. Just study hard and you could probably attend one when you're in high school too i bet"

And so, after some research Sakura learned just where her hillbilly arch rival was attending. She then found moonrise academy and vowed to start a new life. One where she would become super ultra famous under a super awesome and totally not basic name like Sakura and after rising through the ranks she'd confront this hill billy and prove once and for all WHO IS THE BEST IDOL OF THEM ALL!! (which is Sakura, naturally of course!)

Somewhat of a trickster, Haruki graduated highschool early only to announce that he wasn't planning on attending college (much to the shock of his parents).
