Description Now now, let's not forget the one that came out in 1998. Although being a fan of Japanese godzilla when I was a kid, I actually preferred the american version of Godzilla.

Of course, despite the fact that it completely rip off the original concept of Godzilla itself, Even redesigned its looks! It's loooong lizard head mixed with T-rex design! But I like the new looks. IT looked COOL and Menacing! while the original one is simply ADORABLE and Friendlier looking! They made it attacking city, breed PLENTY of small godzilla... =S

I like how they emphasis the military's reactions on the monster.....Β and being a military fanboy myself, it's GOOD!

although that they caused more damage to the city than godzilla but it has a logic that godzilla's body heat temperature is lower than the surrounding building and the heat seeking missile is failing for the first time in movie history evar! what the fk I am writing these in strike? Β

I remember watching this film and liking it, but I had seen the older films in the series before 1998. While I do not hate it, I do not consider it a part of the series but more like Godzilla’s history. Plus the animated series was pretty fun to watch on Kids WB.

Ya. I like how they made the 1998 version. Its fun and its like a monster let loose in a city.

Remember Beast from 20,000 Fathoms? It does the same thing only the monster is very different.
I only wish more was done with the 1998 film as I know that it was a lot of people’s first time seeing Godzilla.

Haha. I had to google that up. The 1998 godzilla setting is kind of similar to the 20000 fathoms. Hmmmm. Also, i gathered fans are not really pleased that they changed the original concept of godzilla, maybe thats why they decided to abandon that version. Thanks for the info btw!

Sure thing. I think you should check out my Zilla Monster Journal if you have not already. It gives a bit of info regarding the character as a whole.

I've always found the Japanese Godzilla more menacing, especially in the Heisei and Millenium era's, not to mention the spectacular 2014 film.Β  The 1998 one was disgraceful to the character but Zilla's design is cool.Β  Although I have to ask:Β  I have read that Gareth Edwards Godzilla served a purpose every time he was on screen so what was so significant about Zilla just walking through the city, laying eggs and evading the military?Β  No hostility, just curious.

Hmmmmm.. I am not sure on this. The 1998 godzilla went onshore becuz of human capturing its "food" supply. Thats ... i guess where the story starts. The "serve on screen" for it to lay eggs, thing is probably to make that part where they are chased by mini godzilla possible. To make the human character able to deal with the terror more personally other than chasing it down with tanks, battle ship and helicopters. With those mini godzilla, they can recreate the tension of human getting chased by raptors in Jurassic Park. Which is actually kinda cool for a pop corn movie. But yeah, its action oriented, not much in story logic. I call this "movie logic".

I don't remember that explanation from the film.Β  I thought Zilla went ashore to nest which is what Nick's experiments concluded.Β  Remember that he was first sighted off the coast of French Polynesia yet he came to NYC.Β  Some species will travel thousands of miles to give birth.Β  Also, I watched a review by GORIZARD and he said that the only reason for finding the nest was caused by Audry.Β  If it wasn't for her, everyone would have been eaten, to to mention that the baby scenes ripped off the Jurassic Park Raptors.
Another issue I have with the film is that the director found the original character too childish and that he didn't even want to direct the film.Β  Personally, I would have gone with what the original product would be:Β  Godzilla being an artificial life form fighting a creature called the Gryphon.
But hey, if you like the film, that's great and yeah, it is a popcorn flick.Β  Almost reminds me of The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms.Β  And besides, it's been 17 years and I've been over it.

No problem! You really did a great job in this! Its rare to see fan art of him. Still find it stupid how the entire Godzilla fanbase still has a stigma against him.

Very nice. Personally I like this Kaiju. It's not a powerhouse like the other Kaijus but it could still put up a fight with its speed and cunning. Its only problem was everyone expecting it to fill the King of the Monsters' boots instead of being its own a stand-alone Kaiju, which got everyone to hate its guts until this very day.

So, i guess its best not to call it Godzilla. Maybe other name would save it from flames perhaps.
