Hahahaha I understand you confusion, I'll explain it: she's a shapeshifter and she's a great fan of Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel, the blonde superhero you saw in the comic). Kamala dreams of being just like Carol, she's her rolemodel, and so she thinks that, if she got to be like Carol, her life would be easier. The first time her powers manifest, she turns herself subconsciously into Carol.
