Yes hair is hard! And it is one of the things I have been trying to improve lately. I just found a WONDERFUL hair tutorial last night, maybe you wanna have a look at it? It is by one of my favourite KH artists

There are actually 3 parts to the tutorial (1 on lineart, 1 on skin shading, 1 on hair), the links to the others are on the bottom of that page. Check it out. I know we would all KILL to be able to do hair like that!

Do you have a tablet? It might be a bit hard with a mouse.... but possible... with patience! Anyway, don't try for the full deal in your first practice run... I suggest you get the lineart of your Zexy pic and just practice on it a few times, using a few less steps, just to get a general feel of that tutorial. It is very time consuming so just get a feel for it at first. Then, when you have the hang of the general idea, it will start to work properly like in that tut. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Hmm you might have trouble with the very long straight stokes with a mouse. But you will be able to do most of it. Practice is the key eh! Have a look at my update on Sexy Xigbar on my recent deviations. I am using that tutorial on his hair. Still got a long way to go with it tho I just spent about 4 hours on it!!!! (JUST his hair!!!!) But the hair ain't quite right yet. *sigh* it will get there I hope.

omg 4 hours? yah colouring a long haired dude, no wonder -_- but you did great!! maybe you should mkae the outlines finer so that it'd look better (: i love drawing characters with short hair i hope ill have no problem with that.

Yes I have a layer mask on the lineart and I am now erasing all the black lines as I colour. If you look at it now (I have updated it again) you will see I have taken all the lineart out of the hair and most of the face. I will remove the rest as I colour the body etc. I will also go back over the pre-existing pics in this series and remove all the lineart from them too when I have a few spare days up my sleeve! (coz it takes a long time!)
