When I went on my favorite site for finding out The Last Airbender news, I was devastated that the trailer was going to be pushed back till February. But then I had a fangirl squee when I saw this picture of Noah Ringer. The poor kid could smile! He also looks a lot like Aang in this picture. I was relieved. Team Noah Aang FTW!

I've heard that in real life he's actually a lot like Aang.

Yes, Noah/Aang smiles at Katara when she freezes Zuko in ice. She walks up to him and aks if he's allright. He smiles, nods and steps closer to her. But he smiles!!!

I'm acquainted with Noah. He goes to my family's church and attends the same Kung fu class as me. Quiet kid, doesn't smile much but he seemed nice enough on the few times I've spoken to him directly.
My mom used to babysit him during church services when he was little. Now he has his own Wikipedia page. Crazy...

This is exactly the picture I've been looking for: Noah Ringer smiling! If the publicity folks for A:TLA movie could just show some promotional posters of the gAang being in their casual character and not serious fighting mode, I think they might reassure some fans.I want to see this kid break out into a huge goofy grin!

Yes! Thank you!! I went to go see Percy Jackson on Friday with my sister. She brought along some friends I didn't know. When the trailer came on, [as I was spazzing out] one of my sister's friends [who happens to be Asian] mentioned that it looked cool but "They are suppose to be Asian!!" Resisting the urge to facepalm, I pointed out the next trailer for the Karate Kid. "Well, they aren't suppose to be black." I win.
But all joking aside, I think that Noah looks an incrediblely like Aang. And besides, racebenders need to reliaze this could be worse: It could be Ember Island Players but set modern day with the director and writers of Dragonball Z and Aang would be 30 and..

Yupp, exactly! I think we should be happy with what we got. Noah makes a perfect Aang and Dev Patel makes a decent Zuko (definitely better than Jesse McCarthey lol) Complaining about the cast not being asian probably won't change anything anyways since they already started filming, so I doubt they'll suddenly change the actors. We should be happy they're even making the movie, really. It's better than nothing, right?

Yes! I'm really gratefull that we even GET a movie. Some amazing cartoons :coughcoughsamurijackcoughcough: didn't get the chance we have now. Besides, the important thing is they can act decentely. If they don't racebenders can have at it. [But I hope they do so I can rub it in there face]

From what I saw in the trailers, their acting seems pretty good. Noah is great and Nicola does give off that sort of 'motherly' vibe like Katara. The only one I'm worried about is Jackson Rathbone. Based off of Twilight, I'm not sure he'll be able to capture Sokka's personality exactly. Oh well, I still think it's gonna be awesome!

I did. Both the Superbowl and theatrical. I admit that I'm glad Shyamalan's tried to put effort in the film, but it still seems a bit off to me. I think I'll just stick with the cartoon show.

Yes. The whole racebending this is so WE. People need to calm down. Avatar is a fanasty world, where our views and interptations of thingss don't exist. It really only matters if they can play the part convinclingly. I was rather surpised and pleased when I heard they were going to use an actual 12 year old instead of getting older people to play younger for his very important role. Shouldn't we all just be grateful for that?
