its an island in hawa'ii that i just got back from haha.. it was beautiful. A lot of the coastal pics i got from there looked similar.

i'm not sure if anyone mentioned this, but.

the sky and the reflection from the sea kills it. because of this major flaw (imo), it kills the entire piece.

thats pretty true, i didnt actually finish this piece but mark-s said it was good enough.

Posted this comment on Mark-S' page but since it was a colab between you guys, and since I just noticed you put the work up too...

I love the dramatic lighting, the way the clouds are done and the atmosphere it sets. The whole thing portrays a feeling of power.
I feel sucked in to the picture

interesting interpretation, but the odd large cloud at the top is a "nebula"

definition:

The term originally applied to any extended (ie, fuzzy, non-stellar) object in the sky. More recently, it is used to describe clouds of gas in space. Some nebulae are illuminated by nearby stars (bright nebulae), while others remain dark and are only seen if they obscure a brighter object (dark nebulae)."
