The circus is Mr. Dark’s kingdom and he makes sure everybody knows who wears the crown. Nothing happens in the circus without his say-so or him knowing about it. He also leads the show in the Big Top and outside of showtime, he can be often found walking through the circus grounds chatting with patrons and making sure everything is running smoothly.

♚ PERSONALITY
Mr. Dark isn’t the ringleader of Circus Darkrai because his species matches the title card. He is a brilliant man with a sharp, cunning mind and a silver tongue to match it. Although he’s fond of theatrics, beneath the showman front every action he takes is calculated to achieve the maximum gain for him, and by extension, his circus. His personal thriving is all that matters for him; there is no scheme he wouldn’t conduct nor back he wouldn’t stab to get what he wants. Other ‘mon are just pawns to be moved around a game board for his personal gain, and sometimes just for his amusement. He may reward a loyal servant, but only to ensure their loyalty and set them apart from the rest, thus sowing the seeds of jealousy, and setting his underlings against each other rather than against him.

What should be known is that Mr. Dark has his world set his way, and he fully intends to keep so, no matter the cost. While he doesn’t get too riled up about minor misdemeanors under his rule - confident in his ability to hold the reins - he will make sure to correct them swiftly, aiming to nip the problem in the bud. Even when calm, however, Mr. Dark can and will be ruthless. He prefers breaking your spirit over breaking your body, but don’t think for a second that the latter option is completely off the table. At worst, Mr. Dark can be ferocious and outright destructive in his retaliations, but it is fortunately rather rare. He prefers dissecting problems in a cold, clinical and clean manner.

Most of the time, Mr. Dark’s worst side is hidden behind deceivingly calm demeanor and a charming smile. He’s had a lot of time to perfect his façade, and it shows - it’s very difficult to break, and most ‘mon don’t see past it before it’s too late, and some not even then. Manipulation is not only his favorite tactic, but also his most honed skill; he knows how to slip behind most personal walls and find just the right buttons to press to get the results he wants. Most of the time, his plan of attack is three steps ahead of his opponent which makes him supremely confident in his ability to win no matter what - and also someone you do not wish to cross if you only can avoid it.

♚ HISTORY
Not much known is about Mr. Dark’s personal history, but a past event revealed a piece of it to the circus members.

Mr. Dark’s wish granting abilities originate from Dorothy The Dust Witch , an old Munna woman who used to practice magic to help ‘mon in need of a miracle. Mr. Dark used to work as her apprentice, but in the end betrayed her to steal her powers to himself - and succeeded.

There’s no certain knowledge of how long ago Mr. Dark gained Dorothy’s powers, but it is known that her magic keeps him from aging as well. Based on what Dorothy revealed, it’s safe to guess that it’s been at least a few hundred years.

What happened between then and now is a mystery, but maybe more will be learnt in time...
