Hey... how do you get all the GREAT shots of American Bald Eagles and all I can get close to are feather impressions in the snow from their squabbles over fish? Seriously... GREAT shots my friend!!!

I cheat ,there is a zoo about 12 miles from where we live ,which we have a season ticket to ,and Sam is always on his perch under a lean-to affair which does mean i can get some really close shots .

At least your experiences are of wild birds mate .

Kinda thought something like that... or you came over stateside and carried off one of our mascots!!! I too have a season pass to a group of zoos but the eagles are always at perches in the back of their cages or you have to shoot through thick black mesh. The wild ones had my number... as soon as I got my new camera with an 18x zoom... the eagles were impossible to get near!!! Maybe this winter will be a little milder: a bit easier on them and on me!!!

The D40x is basically the same camera,just sort a couple of features,but it is much cheaper than the D60 so may be worth a look .
So you have birthday cake and christmas cake at the same time then!!,that must be wierd!!
