Description
This started as a "clouds and skies" test, then it quickly evolved into this. I did not plan anything beforehand, and I am not that proud of the outcome. It just looks a bit dull and uninspired really, and the character (Maja) looks odd. Then again it was kind of rushed, I spent a couple of hours a day with it, but I decided to finish it up and leave it because now that my studies are back I have to focus on my tests and exams etc.It was all made in Painter 7.0, the character was made in Photoshop CS.

Why aren't you animating.... tell me now! Geeze. This is quality!!! This is what I miss seeing in the animation business! Holy Shit its not often you see beautiful work like this. Its up their with Ghost in a Shell, Clamp's X back ground set up, Paul Harbor the movie. Just blows me out of the water. I don't usally compaire but man! I would even classify you with The artist for Millenium Actress. Wow.... I am just speachless by it but forced my self to make a comment.

looks like a scene that came straight outta a high budget anime.
i have a question. how do u get the straight lines in painter? i find it easy in photoshop using the marquee and then painting within a selection.. but i find the marquee doesnt work as well in painter.

This might be one of the first anime works I*ve seen that actually have a scene and background. People seem to ignore all those things as long as they see 'anime style' faces over and over in plain characters.

Geez man! The choice of colors, how detailed the scenery is, how well the character fits in with the scenery, and perspective! Everything is great!
To me, this would be a masterpiece! Wow, you're very very talented! Great job on everything! It's all done so very well!
I also like the way you used one of the other drawings in your gallery for that billboard in the background.

Wow, the background is just lovely. You are too hard on yourself, most people can't do half as good as this. Overall it's a job very well done, I think any minor flaws can be overlooked easily.

I love your background, it has the feel of a Neo-Tokyo style city in the not to distant future, but that is just me...I get that from the giant ring of highway across the sky. A Very inspired work, so unique in all aspects, amazing job.

Great textures on the buildings but i dont see the connection with zardoz (shean connery movie?). the tonal work on the character needs adjustment, namely on her legs and especially that shadow on her belly is out of place and distracting, looks like a fold in her clothes (which she isnt wearing!). wheres the lightsource?

wow simply amazing, the backgrounds and especially the buildings is so nice. i really like the way the buildings are, which look like those ghost in the shell animation ones.

I decided to look at this again. That railing is really, really, really low. Itβs just above knee high. I actually thought about the first time I saw it but I figured you already knew that or intended it to be that low. Also I followed the railing to the vanishing point and notice that the horizon line is very, very low and you should be able to see up her skirt. Maybe thatβs why she looks out of place.

I don't think it looks bad at all. I think the main character sticks out a little because she is rendered in a different way - espeically her colouration, she is much brighter and more simply lit than the rest of the image.

very detailed background and I really like the color schemes you used...the character seems out of place because of her color style, she looks plastic. Even though it was rushed you did a nice job with it...

When you wrote "Zardoz says", I was thinking it was a reference for an old sci-fi flick from seventies, Zardoz (with Sean Connery) But you did a really beautiful work, and it must to be faved.

Hm... I think the problem with Maja is that her arms are a bit short, her right (our left) foot is at a slightly weird angle and the gap between her egs at the top is slightly wide compared to the size of her upper body (i sure don't no any girls who look like that..). But the background is great! I don't get how you can draw such detailed backgrounds. You're the born manga-artist... which reminds me of something i needed to ask you. i'll mail you about it later!

I still donΒ΄t understand how you can make the little background details look so sharp, gaah-must-learn...Anyway I donΒ΄t think that the backround looks uninspired, perhaps it is because of the bridge, it works really well in this one. Also the poster of one of your previous work is a pretty good idea, I almost missed it!
