Description

After the success of the various Ingram Mk.1s; Starfleet ordered a new Ingram Class to be built, but using Excelsior parts instead with refabricatied Ingram Parts. The USS Ingram, NX/NCC-2001-A would start construction in 2294, the ship would enter service in 2297, at the Ingram-A's comissioning ceremony, a Yamamoto Class was moored alongside as well as the last itteration of the original Ingram Class (being a Type 5.0 Refit).

The Ingram Class Mk.2 is more streamlined than a regular Excelsior Class due to the saucer being lower, and the pylons being more intergrated into the secondary hull. The total amount of Ingram Mk.2s built was around 48 ships; there was a SLEP refit around 2332 that added phaser arrays replacing the old phaser turrets, these Ingrams were referred to as the Ingram Mk.2.5 as they were more advanced that the pre-SLEP refit Ingram Mk.2s. The Ingram Mk.2 & Mk.2.5 were present during the Battle of Wolf 359 as one of each class was on standby awaiting further orders, until Admiral Hanson's vessel got destroyed, they proceeded to fall back to the 2nd line of defense not far from Earth, but the cube was disabled by the Enterprise-D and Earth was saved.

During the Dominion War, Ingram Mk.2.5s and original Mk.2s were being refitted with more armour and heavier shields, along with better phaser arrays surpassing the Mk.2.5s Ambassador beam arrays; they were reclassified as Assault Cruisers, one of the ships was the ship named USS Soverigen, NCC-2201, being the first ship named Soverigen in 2311 way before Starfleet introduced the Soverigen Class in 2370 during the Dominion War, when the USS Soverigen, Now NX-90201 the old USS Soverigen, NCC-2201 was renamed to the USS Drummond.

As of recent the ship class is slated for an heavy overhaul and major refit at the Anteres and Andorian Shipyards courtesy of the Project NEX Programme in 2381 using further developments from the Soverigen Class, but this time going much further than the previous vessels refitted by the NEX Programme...
