I'm not sure how you can doubt your abilities when you create works of art like this. There is emotion and skill in this piece. The details on the legs, arm muscles, and feet are perfectly exectuted elements like posture, the 'toy' rat, and the shirt tell the whole story with an economy of detail. You are an artist, regardless of what else you choose to do with your life.

I wanted to and planned to live with him for a year in Germany while working on my art, but it looks like even the least-made plans also go astray and I don't know if I'll even be allowed the gap year anymore. He can't visit that often, in fact I'm lucky he made it at all at Christmas. Financial issues, you know.
