Description A 3D-scene rendered in 3 separate configurations and then combined and manipulated as 2D images in Photoshop, purposefully done to increase, enhance and even exaggerate the 3D effects, lighting, such as foreshortening, curvature and position. One might say that I used a pseudo-HDRI process. Talk to me about this one, please.Β

Thanx Louise! I so appreciate your comments. You are too kind!
I hole the weather has been great for you too.Β
Hurricane Arthur created the worst humidity I have seen in Florida ever, for me, in 18 or so years. It lingers still.Β

I love how reserved this seems, especially the brass canvas border.

The subtle 3D effect on the "sun-disk" made of spheres in the center of the image is nice, since it makes it look like it's coming right at you. I also like the shadow, which serves to give a greater sense of depth, and connects the two elements described thus far.

The detailed "grain" of the wood frame adds an interesting layer of "realism" to this, for lack of a better term, and the purplish bullseye brings the focus towards it nicely.

The whole image is very deeply layered, your art is one of the few worth full-viewing for the added detail. In most other cases, it simply makes already visible details larger, rather Β than revealing anything new.

The overall effect, in this case, is that it feels like you've painted your own version of a sunset, perhaps centered around an atomic-era space station made up of spherical "living chambers."

WOW! I am humbled. bow:

You have a really good grasp of the sense of adding layers to make false-3D on a set of layered-2D planes. I appreciate your analysis and grasp of the techniques I used.

The drop shadow is a very powerful tool. However, it restricts the artist to carefully choose how and when to apply that technique. With just a few techniques to using a built-in drop shadow, one needs to know how to create it on a separate layer, and displace that shadow to add to the believability and the lighting.Β

I often create basic 3D geometric shapes in a 3D modeling Β program, and just render them in grayscale, and use that image as a mask and a map for adding 3D like shading. It saves a lot of rendering time to work in that 2.5D world.

Thank you for the kind comments.

Thank you very much for the kind comment, and concern Joe!

I just had a very busy time with birthdays, and visiting relatives. Those events just rip all the energy out of me anymore. I also spent some time experimenting with my online social capabilities and have been adding new connectivity to our entertainment system. We are going cable-free, and with full Internet-based wireless TV with a supplemental digital antennae. Needless to say, I have been busy.Β

One of the reasons for my desire to do this, I want to be able to show the slideshows on my TV as a backdrop. also the same for the good artists on here, you included. Art was meant to be experienced, and and online gallery is a a great tool in many ways.Β

It was a dry spell creatively with images, but I did not let my time go to waste.Β
Thanx again, Joe.Β

I plan to do a couple more of this style to see what other dimensional concepts I can extract from this technique.
