i came across this book in my house, not sure how it got there. i think it was a gift, so i was told. its by the author Audrey Niffenegger and is based around three sisters who go through great deal of misery to reach a bittersweet end.

BLOND: BETTINE (THE YOUNGEST)
RED: CLOTHILDE (THE MIDDLE)
BLUE: OHPILE (THE OLDEST)

the story starts off with the three sisters. Bettine the most beautiful, Ophile the smartest, and Clothilde the most talented. A man comes into town and falls in love with Bettine and they marry. Ophile is inanely jealous because she also loves the man. Clothilde is going insane because the ravens keep stealing her hair. When Bettine conceives a child Clothilde begins to exchange thoughts with the fetus in the womb, clearing her mind. She teaches the child, tells him a prophecy and names him "The Saint". Ophile finds out Bettine is pregnant and treats her cruely. The man defends Bettine and Ophile confesses her love. When she is refused Ophile tells them to leave the house. They run to the city but Ophile follows them. While the man and Bettine are admiring another couples baby Ophile throws a firecracker in the carriage making it seem like it was Bettine who killed it. An enraged crowd of people attack Bettine and kill her. The baby survives but Clothilde can no longer hear its thoughts. The man is distraught and leaves on ship despite Ophiles plea for forgiveness . Ophile's guilt brings her to kill herself. Clothilde is left alone until many years later she finds her nephew in a circus. She brings him home and teaches him all her talents. when he mastered flying she took him to meet his father for the first time. They return home together and live happily together.

Im not so certain but it is implied that Clothilde and the man are now married and have a daughter. You see her with them in the last picture while they are having a picnic with their deceased loved ones.
