And you're right, the whole sense-based rejection thing is old, it's been invalidated for a while now We were worried about that when having picked up that little tit some time ago to save it from Nicky, but it turned out that thought was quite old. The parents turned up as soon as we put it in a tree.

If momma bird smells human scent on baby bird, sometimes she rejects the babies, and pretty much leaves them to die

He sure wasn't, Momma bird still goes into the nest to feed them. That actually isn't true though, momma birds will not abandon them based on scent.
