Description Reference for and

Iris

Pissed-off half-vampire and thug-for-hire. Usually works with a small gang known as "The Wrecking Crew", along with Erroneous . Specializes in mayhem with or without an axe.

Updates for AATR 2 - The 2011 Season:
Iris has been in the Real before along with the Artist, Obsidian, and Erroneous. Whether she has a clue that she's back there now is anyone's guess - she certainly didn't have a clue the first time around. See the links at the bottom to read the past episodes...

Stats:
Female, half-vampire, about 40 in actual years, stuck at 24 in vampire years. Short, (say, a bit under 5 feet), pixie-like build, deceptively petite with near-vampire-level strength.

Background:
She grew up in a lackluster town, living a lackluster life as a scrappy slacker with a factory job and a lousy attitude. One night she had the misfortune to be attacked and half-turned by a local vampire with a habit of collecting damsels, when the process was interrupted by a mob and the vampire was staked. Afterwards, she developed partial vampirical symptoms - enough to be feared and kicked out of town, but not enough to hang with the cool vamps. She skulked from one place to another until she met the Wrecking Crew, and applied for a job - Carnage, leader of the Wrecking Crew, saw plenty of uses for vampirical skills and had no scruples about the whole bloodsucking thing, so he took her on. She's been working with them ever since.

Limits and Complications of Vampire Abilities:
Being half a vampire, she has nearly-vampirical strength and speed, and the usual heightened senses. However, being only half a vampire, she doesn't have any advanced abilities, and therefore can't turn into a bat, fly, walk through walls, hypnotize or read thoughts, or any of that sort of thing, much as she'd love to. She's not invulnerable, though she does heal somewhat faster than mortals. It's not known how dead she technically is, or whether she can be killed by normal means, but beheading-and-a-stake should work regardless. She needs at least a 50% blood diet, but also needs to balance it with other nutrients, so she usually needs some human food as well. This means she's capable of hankering for a burger AND having bloodlust at the same time. ("I'll have the steak and fries AND the waitress, thanks!")

Personality:
Cranky most of the time, unless she's attacking someone, when she becomes gleefully psychotic. She's the newest member of the Wrecking Crew, and as such is treated as a junior rookie by the other members; this doesn't improve her mood. She's more or less permanently irritated at being stuck as a half-baked vampire, and would much rather be a full vampire. Sometimes she tries to do fancy vampire tricks in her spare time, with utter lack of success. This only makes her crankier. So does Erroneous.

Erroneous hits on her every chance he gets, of course, but she wants none of it. UNLESS Erroneous is female; Iris seems to have inherited a taste for the blood of young ladies from her... parent... so whenever Erro turns into one, she's all over him trying to get a taste. (The more so as Erro has half-fey blood, which must be good stuff.) Erro is having none of that, however, and fends her off to the best of his abilities. Needless to say their working relationship is rather complex.

She has no problem with being a vampire (just a problem with not being a whole vampire,) and will slaughter and drink blood with enthusiasm. Quite an alarming level of enthusiasm, actually. Especially if tender young damsels are somewhere on the menu. Her favorite weapon is a really big axe, though she doesn't technically need a weapon.

Weapons and Abilities:
Armed with a large axe, which she's capable of wielding with one hand. Having almost the speed and strength of a vampire, she's also capable of wreaking considerable havoc with no weapons at all. She has highly acute vision, hearing and smell, making her difficult to sneak up on and enabling her to nose out most hidden victims.

Her fighting style is fast and berserk, and generally involves leaping out of nowhere with an axe in one hand and the big toothy grin of a vampire looking at lunch - the sight is enough to unnerve most hapless victims.

Strengths:
Naturally equipped with a set of handy fangs. Has nearly-vampirical strength and speed, excellent night vision, and heightened senses of hearing and smell. Heals slightly faster than normal humans.

Weaknesses:
Becomes groggy and dazed during the day. Catches fire in direct sunlight. Violently allergic to garlic. Is a sucker (literally) for young ladies, and easily distracted by same. Not exactly the brightest vamp on the block, she all too often acts without thinking, leading to incidents of stupidity. She's still learning the fine art of murder, and hasn't yet fully mastered swords or firearms, partly because she likes her axe too much to switch to anything else. No real defense against magic.

She does not sparkle under any circumstances.

I really like her character design! "Does not sparkle under any circumstances." ... I am willing to test this. Just give me a moment to find a bag of glitter and a large bottle of glue. And possibly some body armor.

I'll stand far away and take pictures of the resulting glittery carnage...

Such a shiny axe it is! Fiendishly difficult to make it fit on the page, though...
