Spicy fried chickens are nice, the only downside is that I can't handle much spice, my stomach is't built for it XD

I love seeing the erasing technique you used for the flames, it looks very effective! I also love the flowyness of the wings and feathers of this phoenix, so much curl <3

Yay, for the creative title! Oh, whoa! I love it, the pose is gorgeous! It's great how the wings and tail fade into the wisps of fire and smoke! You truly made justice for the phoenix's talons and plumage! It's so fluffy, aaaaah! <3 Funny though, my creative mind sees yet another "hidden" creature in this; it comes from the placement and pose of the wings and the light part of the wisps: reminds me of a horned creature. I usually get the light parts with kneaded eraser. It's much easier, you kind of "add" in the highlights. Though sometimes I try to leave blank places, but then end up strengthening them with the eraser.
Hehe, I've always imagined phoenixes as swan-like creature. If I'm honest the eagle-like style is more uncommon to me, funny. Maybe it's that I was really fascinated by swans when I was a little, well, Whooper swans: our national bird. ^^
Thank you ever so much!

Yes, fading is another good technique, I use that too. Hehe, I used my sharpener but it's often dirty of all the remnants of the pencils. XD And well sometimes when there's awfully many layers of 6B to 9B it can get a bit difficult to make it white again without accidentally rubbing away something else. Haven't tried graphite pens though, I've thought of that but then I discovered they weren't waterproof,Β it's not so great idea to work with them on a bed... I've only tried charcoal pencils. Is there a big difference between the graphic, pencils and the charcoal pencils?
I used to like them more, though I still prefer Whooper swans. Funny, the English term is much closer to their sound. We call them: laulujoutsenet = Songswans. lol Eagles, hawks and crow birds are another interest of mine and have always been, and some owls.

I never use charcoal, I find that a pain to work with because it tendsΒ to smudge more. Graphite gives more detail too, I think, also because it works great on smooth paper. Ith shines though, but that's the only downside. And I've never encountered graphite that isn't waterproof (actually, my guts tell me charcoal should dilute first). My work requires to do fieldwork once in a while, and we have to write down stuff in notebooks. I have been told during studies to always use a pencil because rain will dissolve ink. and no, we didn't use charcoal pencils They were cheap graphite things. I've made paintings with acrylics and lots of water that had a graphite sketch, which the graphite survived. Then again, the one time I used a thick layer of graphite for this, not a simple sketch, I used a fixator spray first.

I always make such a mess of the paper when things get super dark...
and yes, that! I scold students when they make a graph with ballpoint pen... idiots... not because the graph gets wet, but because they can't correct their own work this way.

Looove the flame curls! I like that technique, I might try it next time I draw fire with pencil :3

Thank you! it's a great technique, though you do need a good, pointy (if you want details) eraser.
