This car has been a "Lottery Dream" for years. Le sigh. Beautiful!

You know, I almost bought one of these in the 1990s.  And someone actually did buy one here locally way back in 1995 or thereabouts.  How he managed to get someone to make him a duplicate from the movie, and then import it to the US all the way from Australia is beyond me.  But I remember seeing it a couple of times near the local grocery story here in the Bay Area.

And yes, I was a bit jealous

But I was also happy to have seen one up close, even if I was in my own car at the time.

There was a place in Texas (Denton, maybe? Can't remember) that imported Aussie Falcons; they actually went pretty reasonable, too, for anywhere $5,000-$10,000 each. I routinely kick myself for not jumping on that when it was available.

Yeah, if I had bought one in the mid 90s I probably would have eventually had to sell it again some years back.  Of course, now I can afford one again, but ... well, I think now they're overpriced.  I like the idea of driving one locally as an eye catcher, and I don't mind paying some bucks for it, but not an arm and a leg.

Yeah, by this point in time, the only Falcons left are either rusty junk heaps in need to TOTAL restoration, or collectibles in fair-to-great condition. It would be a crying shame to convert a decent-shape, running/operational Falcon to a Mad Max Interceptor by now, and even the rusty junk heaps are going for a fair bit (when you can even locate one, that is!).

I saw a fully restored Mad Max Interceptor on eBay a few years back, being sold by a fella in GB; he wanted 85,000 pounds for it. And he got it!

Yeah, it would have been nice just to have.  Not sure if the blower is street legal here in California.  Still, it would have been cool to have for a while.  If I ever strike it rich, then maybe someday, but otherwise I can live with my beater of a car.
