What a fantastic image! I would like to use this as the basis for a stage backdrop for my band. Is it possible to send as high a resolution image as possible. Let me know for how much and how to pay. Thanks, Colin

I've sent you a note informing you that this piece has been featured!
I did a huge feature for the group, so it was split into two entries. And I gave a few people the wrong links. So just in case this applies to you, if you don't find your work in the one entry, it will be in the other:

Part 1
Part 2

Sorry about that

Wow, the title fits this beautiful picture.

I adore the way the fireflies stand out from the dark desolate night, completely eye-catching. Their colour is a huge wow factor, I've never seen a limeish green colour group of fireflies, or even fireflies for that matter!

I love this, keep up the awesome fireflies work.

How long did you have your shutter speed open for to capture their lights? In the summer it's like a small ocean of fireflies where I live and I've tried to capture them but...it just doesn't work lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Quit007 In reply to AnnoyingRooster [2010-01-30 02:12:27 +0000 UTC]

well 3-5 sec and of course ISO 4000

AnnoyingRooster In reply to Quit007 [2010-01-30 02:58:16 +0000 UTC]

grr! my camera only goes to an ISO of 3200 lol Thanks!!!! I'll try it out come summer

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Quit007 In reply to AnnoyingRooster [2010-01-30 03:16:12 +0000 UTC]

Well, in this picture I used ISO 1600 and a longer exposure. It is possible to do these pictures with "low" ISO but in that case it is more challenging ...

I thought you were referring to Summer Nights Dream II. The first 10 pictures in my fire fly gallery are taken at ISOs >3200 (5DII) and the rest just by a 350D/(Rebel XT)

Where was this taken, if I may ask?

Quit007 In reply to lemonlime77 [2009-01-18 19:56:58 +0000 UTC]

Thx!!
It was taken in some forest near Nuremberg, Germany, 1st of june 2006;
The fireflies are flying around this time in this region.

lemonlime77 In reply to Quit007 [2009-01-19 01:15:52 +0000 UTC]

Wow, very nice. I live much too far from Germany. It's snowing like crazy where I am. Nope, no fireflies here.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Quit007 In reply to lemonlime77 [2009-01-20 18:02:39 +0000 UTC]

As far as Wiki tells there should be some fireflies in the USA, of course presumably somewhere in the south...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lemonlime77 In reply to Quit007 [2009-01-20 22:05:42 +0000 UTC]

Ah, then I wish I lived in the south! North east for me.

Quit007 In reply to lemonlime77 [2009-01-21 01:13:23 +0000 UTC]

Maybe you could go at some time in the future on holidays in a region where they have fireflies. You just have to time it right.
(here is the wiki article [link] )
What I would really like to see is the blinking and spontaneous synchronisation of some kinds of fireflies.
Here in Germany they just give off a constant light while flying. This gives the (at this time already very quiet and dark) forest quite a mystic or even eerie atmosphere.
It should be a sight to see them blinking in unison...

lemonlime77 In reply to Quit007 [2009-01-22 20:55:53 +0000 UTC]

Oh my goodness! I didn't know they held a constant light in Germany. I would love to see that! In about 6 months, when summer comes, then the fireflies should come out. They blink in unison. That's the only way I've ever seen them. I can't imagine what it would be like to see them where you live! And thanks alot for the imformation

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Quit007 In reply to lemonlime77 [2009-01-25 00:20:09 +0000 UTC]

Maybe the blinking is more common than I thought. Wow!
