I can ensure you, I'll make some noise about that in the future
It is one of the biggest projects I'm working at right now
Keep in touch and you won't regret, that's for sure
For now it looks more like prealfa :<

Oh, I will keep in touch. This is one reason. The other one is I finally have to start practicing space art. And you're good at it so I'll need advice from time to time. Don't worry, you won't be the only one I'll bother with my questions.

Don't worry too, I'll be glad to give you any advice you'll need.
Just don't hesitate to ask

Thx, right now I'm struggling with Greg Martin's tut. I did good except one step. I have Linear Dodge (Add) and he has Linear Dodge. And this add is killing me since after using it all looks like HDR bloom light and stuff and like the planet is on fire. But I'll master it in time (or not)

It needs some time, but I'd suggest you `alyn 's tutorial on planets, it's really good
Here: [link] , give it a shot ^^

Thx, but I already have that one too. I did the GregMartin's first since Alyn's is advance so I'll deal with it tomorrow. Today I did Alyn's planet explode, stars and I'm trying fire. I did my first space pic. It's not great but it's a start. If you want, I can show you so you can tell me what to work on.

Ok, so first of all planets are pretty but overcontrasted :<
Especially on the top.
About star, try that:
Fill bg with black -> filter, noise, add noise (5, gaussian, monochromatic) -> image, adjustment, brightness/contrast (-20, 90)
This much more better imo

l1nk32167 In reply to R3V4N [2008-08-26 12:54:09 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, yeah, I kinda lost the stars in the middle of adding the nebula, adding this, that, filter this that. Thx for the notice. And this planet stuff, I'll look into it. thx (though the comment could have been on the actual place where the pic is )

Hehe... Alyn's tut is way harder than I thought it would be. After few pages things become strange and I'll be damned if I know what does he want me to do.

l1nk32167 In reply to R3V4N [2008-08-26 16:41:09 +0000 UTC]

No need, I'm into space art to try to learn to this for myself, I'm sick of using stock when all the best stuff is not stock. So I'll make mine, and I'll get it in time. Btw. I'm done for today. I have 1 more pic ready and done in all Alyn method. [link] here it is. I definitely screwed the coloring and the lightning and I have no idea how to do city lights or the crescent light and shadow. All the other stuff I do understand more or less (hehe, all the stuff I don't get outnumbers the stuff I do get )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

R3V4N In reply to l1nk32167 [2008-08-26 17:07:36 +0000 UTC]

Ok, so let me see...
With that PSD i mean i can give you that to take a look how it looks like (planet itself, with colour layers and stuff )
I'm sick of using stock's either so don't worry It's good for you

That planet is much more better imo than you previous, but yes, colors are a lil' bit odd
What about lights, I have one good method: duplicate our planet layer -> filter, sharpen, sharpen (few times till planet surface gets ugly oversharpness) -> image, adjustment, thereshold and mess with it to get many points. Then you can duplicate that layer, add some blur and put them to 'screen' blending options, add some colour. It'll match your planet surface
Try to mess with it

Ahh and one more thing, the shadow over planet is too deep...
[link] here is my planet resource, but don't mind the planet itself, there is a tutorial about adding shadows to the planet so if you want, I just hope it is clear

l1nk32167 In reply to R3V4N [2008-08-27 07:33:06 +0000 UTC]

Nice. So the tut was more than a tut to me. I studied the layers on the planet.psd and got some ideas of how to do some things. Did the shadowing and I'm posting the edited version. I hope you don't mind I used your clouds to cover the crappy coloring of mine . But I still can't get the city lights using either your, Alyn's or Qzma's method.

R3V4N In reply to l1nk32167 [2008-08-27 08:13:15 +0000 UTC]

Yea, it's much more better now
And don't mind using those clouds, I'm using cloud maps either, just type 'cloud map' and search for high resolution @google
And remember to do your planets at high resolution as well, for example 2500x2500, it will let you scale it down for smaller works, and left it alone for bigger

Well i must say it`s different from you usual works, but i like the idea, and the "logo" of acvartia. You know this can be their symbol right ? Very good drawing !

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

R3V4N In reply to Anekeen [2008-07-03 19:46:06 +0000 UTC]

I tried to make it like on the sink ship or something, you know; rust and dirt and all that stuff
But yeah, it can be their symbol ^^

Here's a little fun because it is under water surface so name Acva -> Aqua but here's also that race.
Some kind of Atlantis i think

It's really good ! I like it
But if it's like underwater, isn't it too "tidy", "clean" ?

Btw, what is "acvartia" ?

R3V4N In reply to svinels [2008-07-03 20:52:15 +0000 UTC]

Acvartia is a race of my idea
But unfortunately i can't tell you now whad kind of and where... But you can be sure I will tell something more about them

Anekeen In reply to R3V4N [2008-07-03 21:27:42 +0000 UTC]

Hmm so you want Acvartia to be an quatic race ? We have Luada which is kinda of aquatic, we can say that acvartians were originally aquatic but then turned etheral ? I think it might work , and "they kept their ancestors symbol and bla bla ".

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

R3V4N In reply to Anekeen [2008-07-04 08:10:18 +0000 UTC]

Hmm it might work. But my purpose here was to give such ambiguously
But it still is a cool idea, water is most familiar to ether i think
