Description Everything is different in the snow; the air is thicker, the sounds more muffled, light hangs in the air leaving no shadowy corners and a frigid cold blanket covers everything you want to touch. Minutes stretch to hours, hours to days as though time is literally frozen, stuck inside a snow globe in which the flakes never reach the ground – like everything else they hang forever suspended in the unforgiving air.

The simplest of distractions becomes impossible. Leaving the house is now a battle to protect every inch of fragile skin from the hostile exterior. Alas, not enough, and the cold penetrates below skin level so for hours after returning to your once safe place, you shiver still with icy fingers scraping down your spine. Walking happens in stop-motion animation, the movement awkward, broken and painfully slow – so much effort and yet you go nowhere.

Nothing moves. The trains, the cars, the schools, the shops – it is easy to believe life as normal will never resume. Whatever activity does continue, you don't notice it – thick layers of bitter white crystals block the outside world and you remain lost in your own private snow drift. As white falls from the sky and rises from the ground, you are surrounded and alone.

This is very well-written. I love how you described that everything seems to slow down.

I'm sorry about your break-up.

you've created a highly tangible mood here.
I can definitely feel the weight of isolation and cold. It has a vivid sense of hunkering down
into a small, small space, of being completely buried.
I could sense that this was written with slow-thawing fingers.
nice work.
