Amazing! ^^ why do you colour things grey in the third step?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Raayzel In reply to Saperia [2012-07-12 13:11:04 +0000 UTC]

Oh its so i can clip the colours in the next layer, so it won't go past the lines and just stay in the grey area ^U^

Raayzel In reply to TigerStudio [2012-05-06 12:20:55 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I just used a thinner brush to trace over the rougher lines ^^

Awesome! It's really interesting to see how you build it up step-by-step.
Do you always lay down base colours for clothes before you start the shading? c:

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Raayzel In reply to ConnieCookiee [2012-03-12 09:01:37 +0000 UTC]

I only tend to do that when i don't know what colours i'll be using, otherwise the colours end up clashing or something //OTL

ConnieCookiee In reply to Raayzel [2012-04-28 11:24:47 +0000 UTC]

That's a good idea! I've often just made things up as I went along, and it hasn't gone well. xD
I really do need to plan drawings better - I wish I could use colour like you do! <3

...You Colour the Eyes first

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Raayzel In reply to SirFerrick [2012-02-18 22:58:35 +0000 UTC]

I do it second, i always do the skin first :')

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SirFerrick In reply to Raayzel [2012-02-18 23:02:13 +0000 UTC]

Ah Yeah.

I do them last, or not at all. I kinda suck at them... So like almost none of my OC's have visible eyes...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Raayzel In reply to SirFerrick [2012-02-19 01:24:20 +0000 UTC]

I actually find them hard to do, since they can either make an artwork look nice...or not

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SirFerrick In reply to Raayzel [2012-02-19 04:24:27 +0000 UTC]

You find eyes to do or eyeless characters hard to do? Well, if you find eyes hard, then you're doing a pretty good job.

And my characters would have eyes, they just don't happen to have coloured eyes. Except one, who wears bottle-top glasses.
So maybe cheated a little...

Raayzel In reply to SirFerrick [2012-02-19 07:41:01 +0000 UTC]

I meant eyes, although i've never actually tried drawing eyeless characters yet. It's just that with eyes i have to be careful not to make them too sparkly or draw it so they end up looking cross-eyed /OTL

I like using cheats lol, like when i don't wanna draw the other eye, i cover it with hair

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SirFerrick In reply to Raayzel [2012-02-19 09:00:52 +0000 UTC]

That Works. My friend almost always has his drawing with the eyes covered by hair or a hat.

They always look rather creepy though, so i prefer to either have colourless eyes or blocked out glasses.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Raayzel In reply to SirFerrick [2012-02-19 20:35:05 +0000 UTC]

Well the hat does look creepy most of the time but the hair if pulled off well can look alright ;D

Blocked out eyes by glasses always come off as mysterious for me~

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SirFerrick In reply to Raayzel [2012-02-20 06:51:24 +0000 UTC]

XD Oh, his pictures are meant to look creepy. He's a pretty weird guy.

I think i manage it... Although i'm really never sure.

Raayzel In reply to SirFerrick [2012-02-20 07:36:38 +0000 UTC]

Oh well then that explains it XD
.. never doubt yourself ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SirFerrick In reply to Raayzel [2012-02-20 07:41:22 +0000 UTC]

XD indeed.

Well, that can turn out good or bad, depending on how you think of it. As long as you don't get depressive or obsessive, its all good.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Raayzel In reply to SirFerrick [2012-02-20 07:43:59 +0000 UTC]

I'm guilty of doing both sometimes sooooo..... i'm a bit of a hypocrite /ORZ;;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SirFerrick In reply to Raayzel [2012-02-20 07:48:28 +0000 UTC]

Indeed.

Although generally not obsessive for very long... I get bored sooooo easy.

Raayzel In reply to SirFerrick [2012-02-20 07:49:47 +0000 UTC]

hehe, im in the same boat as you, i even get bored of the food i eat and songs i listen to after a week or two XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SirFerrick In reply to Raayzel [2012-02-20 08:06:57 +0000 UTC]

XD Same, although not so much food. Takes a while longer of eating it immensly. But yeah, mostly hobbies and stuff, like sculptures or carving or drawings that take over an hour.
