Description Walt46 had this on his want list awhile. He loves to feature histories famous as animals, and me, being a huge fan of Teddy Roosevelt, this was a moral imperative to me.

Walt wanted the Colonel Theodore Roosevelt , the Rough Rider commander of the Spanish American War on 1898 be featured.

TR to me was the ultimate bad ass President. He talked the talk cause he walked the walk. As a sickly asthmatic boy growing up, he taught himself to box, strengthen his body. Was the avid hunter/adventurer / rancher , yet if it wasn't for TR, We wouldn't have the National Park system today nor the National Forests and parks. He realized unless these places were spared from exploitation/development the future generations of Americans would never see them or enjoy them.

Plus during the Spanish American War, he founded the Rough Riders as a military unit. TR didn't care what your color, creed, rich or poor, employment history was. All he cared was "You willing to Fight for the US? If yes, Welcome aboard."

TR had literally removed the military segregation and had it stick til Woodrow Wilson put it back in place in 1913 ( Chew on this info, and Wilson was a Jim Crow democrat  www.history.com/news/woodro...…) Before military desegregation happened in 1947.

TR won his fame especially during one battle, the Battle of Santiago Heights, AKA San Juan Hill, (Actually was Kettle Hill ) Where he yelled at his troops to follow him up the hill. TR literally got to the near top of the hill, as Spanish troops looked utterly confused and shocked a sole American charged up the hill, putting himself at great risk only to turn around and run back up the other hill, yelled at his men to follow his AGAIN this time and charge back up with his troops following this time in force, overtaking the Spanish positions.

TR was put into for as a recipient for the Congressional Medal of Honor for what he did, but certain members of the War Department (Years before the Pentagon was built) didn't like that "New York Mayor" and denied him the award. It wasn't until January 16th 2001 that Posthumously He was finally awarded it. TR is still the only President to be awarded the medal.

And after 1908, TR would run again as President, but under the Bull Moose party. But lost to Taft.

We could use another Teddy Roosevelt as President. He had the balls to do what he did constantly.
