I tried to reinvent one of the most gut-wrenching scenes of the comic in a different way. Perspective didn’t quite come out as I’d hoped, but it was a very fun experiment, with Kid’s immortal words imposed over the action (I tried to compromise including Kid's speech which actually showing the main action). This scene really hurt to read when that page first came out, let me tell you. While I’m not sure if I could pick a favorite of Songdog's comics, Best Of really connected with me with its message of accepting responsibility and consequences while struggling to grow into a better person. These coyotes made me real emotional, damn it.

If you are unfamiliar with ’s work, allow me to gush for a moment! I do not exaggerate when I say that they are one of my favorite writers on this site, and they have been a huge storytelling inspiration for me. Their mastery of creating distinct, likable characters with thoroughly entertaining dialogue is in a league of its own. They have come a long way since I first found them through Chernobyl Curs, with their art developing into the charming, expressive style with unique page layouts that you see today. I can’t recommend their work enough if you enjoy character and dialogue-driven stories (featuring animals). Thank you for all the works you’ve shared with the online community over the years, Songdog!
