The second-generation Roush-Zakspeed Mustang GTP won its first IMSA race in 1983 in the hands of Klaus Ludwig and Tim Coconis. Weighing only 1,770 lb, the racer featured ground-effect aerodynamics and a front-mounted, 1.7-liter turbocharged I4 that developed up to 600 hp.
