Description I was doing some research in a really spiffy book called "The Art of Rock", which went into glorious visual detail about the rock art and op art posters of the 1960's and early 1970's. I love color juxtaposition as they used it, and I wanted to try it out on a design of my own. Blue Thunder is the first of several of these designs.

Now, I've been told that the red and the blue are fighting each other for dominance and that it flattens out the image. Maybe so, and yeah, I can see it doing that. But in terms of sheer retinal damage (which was the point of the exercise in the first place), I think I was successful. The afterimage is just marvelous...

I first laid out my color scheme with watercolor, then went in with black and red acrylic in the background. I did the detailing on the wacky unipegasusacorn with colored pencil. No, he's not flayed. He's just very lean and mean, like a big horsey greyhound.

WOw, so whispy. Reminds me of Ixion from Final Fantasy 10. But then again, a lot of things remind me of things, so....things.

Psychedelic rock posters are a lost art. This is fantastic.

Wow, this is spectacular! I love the flow in the back. It's as if he's part of the sky and either forming or deforming. The position is so expressive and the design is so powerful and unique. I love the shading and color choice, it's very dynamic. Wonderful job, yet again!
