Description
This guy is a long-outstanding character request for an RPG'er. His name is Nak'Takor, and his creator was really keen on colors of the old "Lava Planet Predator" action figure. I wonder why no one ever did anything with that guy - he had a cool color scheme. So at Nak's request, I applied it to his drawing. Then I went nuts with his armor. It's so PRETTY!
I think this is one of the better color-balancing jobs I've done this week (back in 2004) - of the Predatory foursome that I've uploaded this one is my favorite. There's the ususal watercolor wash for an underpainting, and this time I did a quicky undercolor job with markers before I went in and did details with Prismacolor pencils.

I have the old Kenner action figure, "Lava Planet" Predator. He's translucent red with yellow-outlined black markings. I have NEVER seen this guy anywhere else, and I absolutely love the colors. The revamped Setg'in-de' paya Mni'awusthe will have colors and patterns more like this.

I fully agree, the armor is gorgeous! Especially those skulls on his shoulders. Magnificent! Wonderful coloring work too. The colors really suit him, no?

You're right, the colors on this one really rock! On my monitor the watercolor wash looks lighter, or less vibrant than some of your previous examples. That just adds to a bit more contrast between the forground Predator and the background. Also, I like the silently different hues in the background, it makes the background less homgenous (or less boring). Breaking up with the different hues like the yellow, really works. Adding the lines in the background works well too. Yah.Once again, I have to say I love the color scheme on this Predator.

Suddenly, I have an idea that they ripped off the Predators in that one episode of Star Trek Voyager, when they were teaming up with that one alien hunter to hunt that alien from another universe.
