Description
This is the colored version of a piece I originally did as a Predator drawing tutorial. The tutorial has since been removed, as DA did something weird to it; you could no longer zoom in. Not sure where the original files got off to; alas.I wanted to keep the color low-key, in contrast with the intense red of the background. I think I got it to work right...

Oohh, he's all earth tones and very solid. The armor design is nifty with its segments and ridges; this swordsman could really move in that outfit.

Yeah, I figured I'd try something besides day-glo colors for this guy (though I'd originally been thinking about imperial violet and gold). I had finished watching Gladiator for the umpteenth time, and leather-and-gold for the Romanesque Predator armor seemed to be a good color idea at the time.

Awesome. I can swear up and down that your coloring skills are definitley improving. Either that, or you trick us by doing a lot of polychromatic art with high contrasts before doing a fairly controlled (color pallette) piece with a uniform lighting source.

My control of limited-color palettes is improving, I think, but I do tend to alternate between high-chroma and low-chroma scheme pieces just to keep my eyeballs from suffering permanent damage. And because you guys expect a little variety.

I appreciate the variety. I love how you have the ability to work with diversity, but you also have your own personal style. You're one of the few polychromatic artists whose work I absolutley love.

Thanks very much! I'm a little worried that this fandom is beginning to run dry... AvP's goofiness quotient just about did us in. But the armor and wepon ideas keep on coming into my head, so I will certainly continue to post my favorite monsters as I finish 'em.

I use design ideas from all kinds of different military sources for Predator armor. I tend to favor Japanese and Roman designs overall, and this one's armor was modeled off of a statue of Julias Ceasar.

LOL - The Predator helmet has a wonderful shape to it, I agree. I, however, prefer the wonderful details of the Predator's mandibles. I love all the intricate layers.
