this is amazing! I can't believe that fan art even exists of the muses, haha. they will always be my favorite part of that movie, other than Meg.

Thanks so much! I loved them too, even though the movie makes my brain hurt now. Meg was also awesome - yay for empowered, snarky Disney females!

Agreed. She and Jasmine seem the most "feminist" to me, if you can call anything Disney-made feminist. Oh, and Mulan of course, though she's not a princess (they still include her though, sometimes, in the Princess Franchise. Like a token Asian or something ridiculous like that).

Ooh, I am! Haven't watched Ponyo yet, but I'm DYING to. I just happen to have a girlfriend who is never in the mood to read subtitles, and I don't want to watch it without her.
As for Disney's feminism, I agree that its there too, and that it gets overshadowed by several factors (including what you said about romance - which I agree with, its bollocks that people assume that falling in love makes a woman weak, but it seems like that is the assumption). I think Disney's big giant evil corporation-ness doesn't help either, and the fact that most of their stories focus on strong male main characters with female characters acting only as love interests or sidekicks. Also, for those of us who grew up with Disney, the original films (like Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty) were much more sexist, so at least to me it seems like they need to redeem themselves from those days and start telling stories that have strong female MAIN characters, who don't NEED rescuing and can take care of themselves no matter how strong or involved the men in their lives are. Mulan totally had that, and so did Ariel, but since her driving force was love no one takes her as seriously. Jasmine and Meg could have had that too, but like I said, they were relegated to sidekickdom.

Nice work! I enjoyed Disney's Hercules, even if it wasn't mythologically accurate (they were four Muses short, after all). Still, I love the ancient Greek look they used!

Thanks! I did like the look too, even though the inaccuracies bothered me.

Thanks so much!
I use colored pencils, mostly Prismacolor brand but also some Crayola.

Thalia has the worst hair? From where I'm sitting, Terpsichore or Clio have worse hair.

But at least theirs were fun to draw. Thalia's is just so simple, and looks silly in that simplicity compared to everyone else's. Well, except for Melpomene, but still.

Surprisingly, no, I don't. We only have it on tape, and the VHS side of the player doesn't have working sound.

Aww that's too bad. As inaccurate as it is, its fun, and I bet they would like it.

Really just the one is plushy, in the movie at least, but I tried to make them a bit more curvaceous. Thanks!

Just when I thought you couldn't get any cooler, you make a picture like this. This is by far one of the best Disney fan art's I've seen. It's hands down the best "Hercules" art I've found so far. Bravo!

Wow! They turned out great! I love it. I'm surprised they have names. I like to pride myself as being attentive to details, and I know I've looked for their names before, because I wanted to know what they were each the muse of, and I was never ale to find it. My hat goes off to you!
I always thought Clio had the worst hair. XD
I do so love these ladies ^0^
