Description ...and after weeks and weeks and months of gathering informations, putting them together and finishing my master's paper I decided it's time for a change and draw something pretty for myself. Luckily I promised a picture to ~Temrin some time ago so I didn't need to work my head too long for the theme. This piece came about to make up for an older botched picture for her ... which I happen to like quite a bit now actually, so maybe this one doesn't top it after all, especially since I swerved from original inspiration of one of her own pictures quite a lot... Well, I can always try again and better.

I'm glad you like the older painting now, and I never would have called it botched! This one is serene though and quite a different take on the character. Her pose is delightfully natural, and I think that's only helped by the dark shades and sparse lighting; in this way, the painting demands a closer and longer look.

It's good to see some artwork following something so life-consuming as a thesis paper

Yeah, it's good to be back! Though it's still some distance to go before it's all over for real. In the meantime I am happy to hear quick drawings can harvest positive opinions before some good stuff comes along. Thank you!

Definitely drowsy; which is interesting given the use of bright colours. Great stuff as ever. Your brush technique has a lot of energy, so it's great how here it's showing something calmer. Can you not upload pngs?

Nah, you can get drowsy at any time, right? 'Specially when comfortably seated and mesmerized by watching a floating sprite. My style should be getting smoother, though, or at least that's what I am aiming for as people like it more that way. I am glad to see people enjoy the inbetween phase before I get there. Thank you for it!
As for .pngs I know there is a lot of pictures on-line in that format but as I don't work in digital arts I don't really see the perks of it. Could you enlighten me?

Well I suppose quality for you it depends on your scanner/photography capabilities, but a png would give a much higher resolution view, without the degrading associated with jpgs. It might also just be an upload thing, dA can be strange like that. A png would let me get at all the finer details of the brush work ^^

I have been away for quite some time, but I plan to change it, starting with this piece. More pictures, activity, *LauraBev and inspiration will be good for me.

Yeah, I now know Canopy above is a pretty good picture and it only took me a while to see it. Year 2012 was poor production-wise for me and this was first thing I draw for ages, was a good workout, made myself happy, so I would say it did good for both of us.
For sake of fun facts: I originally meant to do something very Reflections -like, but went other way when hitting a roadblock. The picture gave an inspiring idea beyond my capabilities.
Who knows how great it could have been, but at least this time I am pleased with it straight away.

And finally someting came out from your hands and must say: what a nice pose! Your backgrounds always caught my attention and it is not a exception, I love to see the relief of the blanket (sign of a fine work on your part) and despite having a cool color looks very comfortable, almost warm (ideal for sleep hehe), gorgeous work

Yay! first comment! (I won the The "Tuna of the year" award, aren't I ?

Oh yeah, the pause was way too long! Producing something of value I myself like after this long time of no practise is a miracle of its own. Fact that others also like it is a pleasant bonus. I say this so that you know I draw here only the simpliest things I can. Thank you for the nice comment. Here, have a tuna!
