I'm betting he comes back with other decepticons, then IF there is a third, meagtron would be revived as galvatron and slay starscream. and while we add decepticons we add autobots, namely magnus and hot rod.

do you think that line of thinking makes sense for the plot, though?
I mean, I picture starscream going to what's left of cybertron, getting recruits and magnus and a few other autobots end up following them back to earth.

I can see that and galvatron and hotrod.

I would picture galvatron showing up in the final scene to crush starscream and set up a potential sequel.
Like, the autobots spare starscream and he crawls off to hide. then galvatron shows up out of nowhere and destroys him. (end film #2)

He needs a mencing, evil-plotting type look on his face. Then he will be the Starscream that we all know and love.
