I am Senior at the University of Michigan. Dr. Marty Hershock is dean and my professor for the English Colonies. I have a power presentation due and I picked the Jamestown colony. I would like permission to use this photo for one of my 20 slides. I will not alter it in any way except putting in the Tile and Artist. It is perfect for my discussion about the Starving Time. Please let me, thank you in advance.

Ah yes, ye old sharpie. How did you get the paper texture and the pencil to stay, but also have the blacks solid? Obviously this requires some technical Photoshop skills, which I am only beginning to master.

The paper texture is packing cardboard, which is what I was doodling on. When I was scanning it in, I adjusted the levels of saturation and light and darkness so that it showed both my pencils on that skeleton and darkened in the sharpie to an even blackness.
No photoshop this time around, though I wish I'd have thought of it when I was filling in the darkness last night.

That's been incredibly helpful. I've done a lot of color paintings that I've wanted to scan in but the colors would be washed out whenever I adjusted the contrast. Hopefully this will solve my problem!
