I was honored to participate in the 2016 Werewolf Calendar this year! The theme I chose to illustrate was camouflage. I have always been inspired by the work of Bev Doolittle , a master at misdirecting the viewer and sneaking unexpected subjects into her paintings. It was incredibly fun and challenging to try a composition like this. How many wolves did you notice?
Preorders for the 2016 Werewolf Calendar will be available at Midnight (PST) on September 1, 2015. The first 200 orders will get some extra goodies!

Incredible artwork. The background with the snowy mountain and cliffs is very detailed and I like how all the different wolves are stalking their prey. The two up front look really cool

I only saw the two, then noticed the other three closer to the elk when I looked closer. That Elk don't have a clue what's about to happen to it.

That is FANTASTIC. The detail is just...mesmerizing. I especially love your fur textures...and little details like, the hidden wolves closer to the prey...just out and out incredible.

I love the tension in this work, and the atmosphere of silent waiting just before the fight. And I always admire how people mix animal and humans silhouettes to depict an entirely new creature. Whenever I attempt to do it, it's just a human with animal head. Again, awesome piece!

than doing all that with bare teeth while the animal is running ;D

Sure, I understand the aesthetic choice. And it definitely looks badass, was just pointing it out bc it would technically be unnecessary for a natural predator to use tools

That camouflage is great. The wolves are completely visible, but blend into the scenery, something all successful predators must master.

Wow! Amazing work! I love the illusion and the soft tones! I found it surprising as well, as the golden colors moved my eye up through the middle of the piece I couldn't help but also move my eye around, and one by one I began to see the other wolves and I was in awe!
