Description A fairly quick build done with the intention of using Tarix's blade, which basically dictated the entire colour scheme.

A lonesome traveller lies stranded on a beach, hungry, dejected. He hears a soft, genderless voice: "Get up, traveller. I can help you." The traveller wakes to see a grand ship gently bobbing in the water before him, impossibly bright and lustrous, shimmering as a mirage or hallucination would. The swan's head on the ship's bow turns towards him: "Come. I can take you across this lake." The pair glide off across the calm waters with no obvious source of propulsion, the ship's wings leaving a soft wake in their path.

This is what happens when you try to build a swan MOC but it doesn't quite work. With such a regal colour scheme, I wanted something quite mystical, altruistic, and pure, and that backstory was the best way that I could get that across. Each wing is articulated, and the spiky bits on the bottom help to keep the MOC upright.
While the Swanship is nowhere near the top of my favourite MOCs list, I'm rather fond of it!
Edit 28/05/2014: Changed some colours around so that the only occurence of the 'new light blue' is on the HF limb at the bottom.

that mask looks great for bionicle mocs, what's it from?

I also just noticed this is not yet in my favourites. Crime.

Has anyone here played Spectrobes (Origins, specifically?)? This remids me of one, tough I can not for the life of me remember it's name...

(Here you go. spectrobes.wikia.com/wiki/Ukal… / spectrobes.wikia.com/wiki/Ukaz… It's a bit different from what I remembered, but still.)

You're right, there is an uncanny resemblance there!

I wonder, do you disassemble your MOC's often? you seem to have such a vast amount of parts, it wouldn't surprise me if you could just leave them intact for a while...
I mostly use spare parts to build own stuff, since I'm more on the collector side of Bionicle enthusiasts, but whenever I see one of your creations, I am tempted to just disassemble all of my precious Toa/Rahi/etc. and try making some cool MOCs myself

(I take it you haven't heard of/played Spectrobes before? That would be too much coincidence, thank you )

Rahiden In reply to Hiddelgreyk [2014-08-15 20:35:48 +0000 UTC]

Nope! These days, disassembling my MOCs is a thing of the past - you can see my current lineup (excluding the most recent ones) here: rahiden.deviantart.com/art/Bio…
A couple of them have been round for a few years already I use Bricklink to replenish my supply of connecty pieces, though I occasionally have to pinch a part or two from an existing MOC. You could always try some MOCing of your own!
And no, I'm afraid I'd never heard of Spectrobes before

So you never heard of Spectrobes... that's okay (and pretty normal, 'suppose it's not a very well known series), I, for one, had not heard of Bricklink yet
Do they still produce Bionicle pieces? If so, I need to check out that site immediately!

I have indeed done some MOCing in the past, I could see if I can take some pictures...

Rahiden In reply to Hiddelgreyk [2014-08-16 23:14:58 +0000 UTC]

No, they don't actually produce the pieces - there are people around the world who are suppliers of Lego pieces, and so Bricklink is just a system they can use to set up an online store. Some people use it to purchase rare or exclusive pieces, while I use it to bulk-buy useful ones (like 200 black 2-axles!).

200! O.o
How much did that cost?

Rahiden In reply to Hiddelgreyk [2014-08-17 19:34:24 +0000 UTC]

I seem to remember that each one cost less than one penny, so all 200 cost less than Β£2 Definitely worth it.

It's an interesting build, to be sure. Doesn't look much like a swan in my opinion though. Looks more like a sea serpent XD Still, nice parts usage.

I like the build a lot; very elegant. And the color scheme is really nice; most blue-and-gold combination use a richer blue, so using a lighter version helps your model stand out more. The one gripe I'd have would be the newer-blue pieces; the color difference may not stand out to you, but it sure does to me. Oh, and those two pieces in the tail work brilliantly together.

Lovely, but are you aware you have two different kinds of blue in there?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rahiden In reply to Lol-Pretzel [2014-05-27 22:43:30 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I'm aware - in an earlier design I used far more of those Hero Factory limbs that only come in the new blue. I also feel a bit safer using the newer sockets since they're much sturdier. Now that you mention it, though, I do have enough of the old blue sockets to replace the current ones... hm, I shall have to think about that. They don't really stand out as massively different colours to me anyway ;D

Wow, now this looks cool ! Great job with the head and the overall use of the golden pieces, it has a very nice across the entire body. But the thing I like the most is the use of the cyan and light/sky blue and the healthy balance between them.
