Description I've noticed that a lot of people either don't use it or have no idea what it even is, so I thought I'd create this little tutorial/explanation so people can give it a whirl and hopefully improve their efficiency and productivity

This is really helpful, thanks! I don't have the option to nest radial menus though. It only lets me have 1 radial menu per program. Do you know if they changed how to get to this? I am using the Intuos Pen & Touch, so it might just be a feature exclusive to the Cintiq, though. Β

Thanks Rahll. Β set it to the pen click and it is a huge time saver. Β Glad to see this tutorial.

The distance of every single click inside Radial Menu is so short, I'm getting quicker than ever before since I started to using this feature, it's very powerful. I don't even need to use keyboard, only when I need to type something.

I'd love to use something like this, but I'm still using an intuos3 and I don't have the money to buy an upgrade.

lol this is why I draw way too fast, not only express keys, I use radial menu as well. Shortcuts make production speed really fast.

I was aware of the radial menu and it's usefulness but was having trouble coming up with an optimal setup for it. Β I will defiantly be utilizing this as a template, thanks for posting this!

I love the radial menu, but I have the small intuos, so the keyboard shortcuts are faster for me, since I'm using a compact bt keyb

Yeah, I hear ya. I actually use mine in conjunction with the keyboard most of the time.Β

Ah, the radial menu, I know all about it but haven't use it that much really... that will probably change as I begin using my Wacom to paint instead of just touching up photos and stuff.

is this for all Wacom's?
I have a bamboo?
Or is this for the cintiq only?

i'm still using a 10 year old tablet but I switched over the touch strip from zoom to increase / decrease brush size a few months back and even something as simple as that speeded up my work by a 1/3. Soon i'll have one of those sexy cintiqs to replace this old girl so i'll be sure to use this. Thanks.

Something like this is damn near essential on a Cintiq Companion.

IMONFIREGUYx [2013-10-31 14:16:35 +0000 UTC]

huh
and here i was just using it for brush sizing

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rahll In reply to IMONFIREGUYx [2013-10-31 19:38:04 +0000 UTC]

Hint for brush sizes, hold ALT on your keyboard or tablet and move your stylus left or right without touching it down. That's what I primarily use these days, it's super fast.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

IMONFIREGUYx In reply to Rahll [2013-11-01 04:43:28 +0000 UTC]

hmm, i usually just use the alt function for color picking, so I guess I never really gave it a shot

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rahll In reply to IMONFIREGUYx [2013-11-01 07:35:07 +0000 UTC]

Wait, I totally missed a step, my bad. You have to hold ALT, then hold the right click button on the stylus, THEN drag left and right.Β

ahh, that makes a bit more sense
was a bit confused when I tried it and nothing changed
thank you

SuperSarcosmic [2013-10-29 00:37:20 +0000 UTC]

Whoa, I had no idea my tablet had that function! I actually never use my tablet buttons just because I felt they were tedious and it was easier to use my keyboard or the tablet pen's buttons, but I might have to try this out.
I've never seen that Tablet Properties window before, though... hmm...

Anyways, thanks for making this!

My biggest problem with setting my cintiq is with Zbrush, I don't know if you could help me there or if you know someone who could :< It's kinda really annoying to switch on damn keyboard everytime

EbolaSparkleBear In reply to Odow [2013-10-29 01:54:17 +0000 UTC]

I cannot help you personally, but I know there were a few You Tubes about that. Maybe you can find them?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Odow In reply to EbolaSparkleBear [2013-10-29 03:50:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeah i'll try to

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

Rahll In reply to Odow [2013-10-28 21:07:47 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with Zbrush at the moment. I've tried it in the past and I plan on purchasing it soon, but for that type of application I'd probably use my Intuos5. I've found that for me personally, 3D work or sculpting is best done with a regular tablet, primarily because of the amount of keyboard shortcuts that are needed for an efficient workflow.Β

Odow In reply to Rahll [2013-10-28 22:59:12 +0000 UTC]

T_T

Yeah I guess so but i have a coordination problem which make me completely useless with a regular tablet.

Odow In reply to BLPH [2013-10-28 20:57:57 +0000 UTC]

Pretty sure it doesn't have it on bamboo and version less then 4. I know it's on all cintiq and intuos 4.

I use keyboard shortcuts rather efficiently, for most commands! But I suppose getting used to the radial menu for secondary commands could prove to be even more efficient!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rahll In reply to MLeth [2013-10-28 20:43:23 +0000 UTC]

Definitely. I use both still, but the radial menu is super convenient, especially when it comes to jumping back and forth between the brush and eraser and not having to stretch your hand all over the keyboard for other things. For frequently used stuff I definitely find it a bit faster than the keyboard. It's just a matter of setting it up and remembering it's there. It's easy to forget about it when you first try to use it.

Orhia In reply to Rahll [2013-11-08 09:06:16 +0000 UTC]

I'm looking into the radial menu now, I knew it exist but never gave it a shot. Though you probably know this already, but if you want a super quick switch between brush and eraser you can just hold ''E'' and erase, and when you want your brush back just release ''E'' (This works with all tools btw). I'm going to set up the radial menu and give a try for sure. Thanks for this

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rahll In reply to Orhia [2013-11-14 02:45:44 +0000 UTC]

Definitely, thanks I use it mostly with R, so I can rotate super quick and go right back to what I was doing.Β
