Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the idea that started it all, the idea that started me to share many of my ideas with everybody around DeviantART.

This one is "Desert Rider".

This is about 2 Engineers, one is an "engineer", hidden by another Engie, if you know what did I mean, the other is an Engie as a fireman, leaning out of the window holding his hardhat, as they traveled across the desert, onboard their speeding Northern Express oil-burning 4-8-4 steam locomotive.

With its headlights beaming across the scorching heat, and its mars lights flashing, this 4-8-4 is underway to an industrial city just 5 miles across the desert.

Man, Windows 7 Paint's thin paintbrush thingy looks cool for smoke, sorry about the shadows, but the shadow looks like crap.

Why? I sucked at making shadows, even in a train art based on light and time and whatsoever.

Any references from Team Fortress 2? There's plenty and alot of them.
That's because it's a TF2-related train art, this also shows what trains in the TF2 universe should've probably looked like.

Why? That Northern Express diesel, that existing game model, looks like a 1970s model, while TF2's setting is in the 1960s, thus making the diesel WAAAAAY outta time.

Plus Team Fortress 2 did also has a steam locomotive model, but a smaller one, the one resembled some silly cartoon-looking Porter steamer model...

Never mind.

Basically, TF2 looks better if Valve should've used train models that are abit older....
Locomotives earlier than 1960s are fine, thanks to TF2's setting in the, ...well, 1960s.

One more thing, why is the locomotive puffing dirty-looking brown/black smoke when it's burning oil?
Maybe the Engineers must have brought some pack of charcoals? Or maybe a pack of firelogs?

UPDATE: Thanks much, , why did I not know? The Northern Express diesel is based on an EMD GP38, built around 1966, while TF2's setting is around the late 1960s...
Which means that diesel seems to look era-accurate after all.

However, for that steam locomotive, it just came from my imaginations.
And about that Northern Express diesel, you mean THIS?
