Hi, Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, been very busy lately and haven't had a chance to log on in a while.
This dragon as well as my other sculptures were sculpted from Premo brand polymer clay, which is Sculpey's professional line of clay. If I remember correctly, she was painted with metallic red airbrush paint and her belly was covered in irridecsent pearl powders before baking. She was about two and a half inches tall and about four inches long, and yes I do have some very tiny brushes for painting eyes. Thanks for checking her out.

ohh...wow what products did you sue to make this lovly peice? proper clay or sclpey sort of thign with paints or glazes? i do really like the shine on it with all the scale details.
also a great thing to add the fabric fur on it cL and i'm guessing ti's not very small..due to the detail in the eye, unless you have very small brushes X3

Hi,
Thanks. I use Premo polymer clay for almost all of my recent sculptures. This one was covered in red metallic paint and metallic powders in some areas. The scales were made with a tool I made myself, out of clay. She was about 4 and half inches long, and yes I do have some very tiny brushes.

well daynm..you ahve small blushes for those eyes. oh premo? i used that stuff for soem of my things, ecept not this detailed. i'm guessing becasue of it's small size the wings wern't to much problem, or did you ahve to use somthgin to keep thme up..polymer clays so floppy, but yes all in all very nicly detailed

Actually, I do use wire for the wings in most of my dragons this size. I usually wrap it in floral tape and then attach the wires together with the tape also. It usually holds up pretty well while I add the clay to it. Then I can pose the wings the way I want to before I bake it. Using the foil for the body armature helps a lot also for helping the piece keep its shape while sculpting.

I've found that if the clay is too soft for my liking, I can roll it out and lay it between 2 sheets of paper and let it sit for a couple of hours, or sometimes overnight, to leach out some of the oils and make the clay firmer.

oh premo clay was to rough for me, abit touch to work more complex shapes in it, but u heard it's stonger than sculpey 3

Floral tape is found at Michael's craft stores by the silk flowers and dried flowers. It is relatively inexpensive and sticks well to the wire as you pull it tight around the wire. It makes it so much easier to add clay since the clay doesn't like to stick to the wire without it very well. sometimes after baking some of the wax from the floral tape comes throught the clay, but it is easily wiped off.

You should be able to find it in any craft store where they sell silk flowers. You might also be able to find some on eBay, but I'm not sure how you'd go about looking it up. Good luck.
