It started with a fashion show, a gorgeous dress designed by Rarity Belle that caught the Empress' eye. It was pale blue, flowy, and shimmered in the perfect light of the show. Celestia was determined to find and meet the creator of such a beautiful, intricate design. It was simple to meet Rarity, and Celestia was insistent on this beautiful mare designing her Galloping Gala dress! Their talk at the Gala was peaceful, Rarity helping Celestia dress, and honestly, Celestia felt odd about how gorgeous she found Rarity. The night went off without a hitch, and Rarity very quickly became Celestia's go-to designer, and her maybe sorta girlfriend. Celestia is certainly trying, especially now that Rarity is making a name for herself and able to visit Canterlot much more often.

Rarity always knew she was destined for great things. She was so blinded by her ego that she willing allowed strangers to preen and idolize her, flaunting her abilities with ease. It was easy to find love for herself. And she was enthralled when she caught the gaze of a very prominent member of Canterlot's High Society. Fancy Pants, a prime stallion who was always on the cover of fashion magazines, and even gossip rags. He was rich, beautiful, and had taken an interest in Rarity. And Rarity fell hard, allowing herself to enjoy the new limelight he gave her, and even lived with him for a short time before the Gala so she could be closer to Celestia for dress fittings. Rarity had the perfect life! Which all came crashing to Equestria with a very hard realization. Rarity found herself pregnant with Fancy Pant's foal. It was okay, she always told herself, smiling through the tears as she trembled her way to the stallion. The conversation that followed was short, harsh, and devestating. It left Rarity homeless and pregnant, washed from Fancy Pant's hooves with no issue to him. Rarity had to go home, to her Mother and Father, just over 18 and pregnant. She couldn't handle this, not alone, but she didn't want her child to be lost in the adoption circuit. And her Mother and Father, once again, helped her and gave her what she needed. They agreed to raise Rarity's child, a little daughter named Sweetie Belle, under the condition that Sweetie be raised as Rarity's sister, and not her daughter. It would only confuse the young baby as she aged, and would cause pain for her to know she was unwanted by her own father. Rarity agreed, unhappily, because she'd rather have Sweetie Belle in her life than risk her happiness in the future. After the incident with Fancy Pants, Rarity was severely humbled. To the point it really ruined her confidence and made her slightly insecure, and she tried to give a lot more than she took. she still gets taken advantage of, for being too generous now, but she'd rather that than to be hurt again.

Rarity always put everything to the side to take care of Sweetie. When Sweetie needed a baby sitter, Rarity would drop all her plans to be there. When Sweetie wanted to go out and have fun, Rarity would always try to make time for her. Honestly, Sweetie adores her big sister. So of course, Sweetie moved in with Rarity and was raised by her until she was 14. It was an easy life, until Sweetie overheard a conversation Rarity was having with Celestia, who was visiting from Canterlot for an important reason. Sweetie learned abruptly that she was Rarity's daughter, not her sister, and she burst in on the conversation, crying heavily and shouting at Rarity for lying to her. That she loved her and couldn't understand why Rarity would've rather acted like her sister and not her mother! Then, she ran and locked herself away in her room. Her entire life revolves around her studies, so most of her and Sweetie's dates are study dates. Which, apparently, Sweetie is plenty happy with. In private, Luster is an absolute goofball and always making her girlfriend happy, since Sweetie always seems to have this sadness in her eyes. Luster's 5 year plan is to move out with Sweetie into their own Canterlot apartment, get a cat, and start researching magic. She wants to work with ancient magics and create her own spells based off it. She already has a couple simple ones she's perfecting.
