My first attempt at doing a commission, paid for by , featuring their character Vicky.Now I don't normally try things like anthro or human-based styles, but since it was a commission, I figured I'd try it out. Turned out better than I'd hoped, but I feel I could do better with more practice.
So here it is, first commission done and dusted. Shall I start taking commissions, or stick to the usual trades and requests?
EDIT: I fucking hate the eyes not being right now. :/

tbh, I like the direction that your artwork is heading in as of late, yet again, I am a fan of anthro artwork. It's a lot different then the HTF styled artowrk that you were known for, but I like this style better anyway. It's pretty good for a first try. I'm with SycoBitch on this one though, you could make the eyes less far apart, and give her eyelashes since she's a female. The shoulders could also look less manly, and the nose could be a bit less pointy as well, but this is still a very good piece, I dig it.
I got a question though, even know you've moved away from the Happy Tree Friends fandom, would you still perhaps make drawings of HTF characters (such as Petunia or whoever) in an anthro style? Just curious. Keep up the good work man.

Yes, I am far from fitted into any new styles. I'm currently trying to get a feel for irregular styles, and making moderate progress.

Yeah I feel ya, when I first started drawing anthro/furry styled artwork, it was atrocious to say the least, and a bit embarassing. My artwork is getting better though, it's not all that great per say, but I'm getting there. I use paint.net for my drawings now, which makes it easier to edit my drawings as well as coloring it and all that, and it doesn't look as messy, as oppossed to flat out hand drawing it, and coloring it in using colored pencils. I'd say keep at it, and you can eventually do alot with your artwork in this style.

I'm not the right person to express a judgement on this anthro work, being competely a failure in it, but anyway I think you've done a great job here! Not exactly realistic, it looks more like a manga, but perhaps it was your real goal, I don't know, as common your digital drawing and colouring is awesome. It's nice to see you're drawing in new stiles. Keep up the good work!

Alrighty then... lets take a good look at this picture. For your first try it's not too shabby. Has very well defined anthro features which is a big step from the stuff you had before and I like the shading style you used. It's not too powerful which I have seen a few people make the shading darker than all hell xD
The face shape looks structured right other than the pointy chin.. seems like something outta a manga book. Next time try to make the chin have a more.. gentle curve.
The ears look pretty decent.. I don't think anything needs to be changed there.
The hair though should be on both sides of the face.. not only the right side. It makes it look more natural if you do it like that.
Another thing that needs to be done is the shoulders and the eyes.. they both give Vicky the fox a manly feel.. Add some eyelashes and fix the shoulders up a bit. Also keep in mind that eyes are always one eye a part.. so Vicki the foxes eyes in the picture are a little bit too far apart.. Just keep that in mind the next time you try to draw an anthro character.
The nose and the mouth are fine if that is the style you are going for. If you want to make it more realistic look at some canine noses and see how they look and make it more simple to draw on a character.
Sorry if anything above this offends you. I am just trying to give you a few pointers n stuff. If you need help with making a character more anthroish just stop by and chat with me. I can give you a few pointers that I know about anthros.
Anyways keep this up. Play around with the style a bit and see what you can come up with. I am sure that in the end you will amaze us all with something that will be pure fucking awesomesauce of awesomeness.

I'd say you have been ready for commissions for quite a while...
Try not to get ahead of yourself, I'd expect you'll have a bit of demand, plus you know that its hard to get computer for yourself in your household!

Next time say something that can help him improve such as critique instead of shooting it straight down in flames :I
He's taking a big step in getting away from the HTF fandom and towards a more anthroish style which takes skill to do that.. not to mention patience and for his first try you can't just say "Oh yeah.. this sucks, next time you should stay with your non-original style that's a rip off of HTF style.. cause I like that better."
So remember, there is such thing as giving advice.. it sure prevents you from looking like a complete asshole.

but as a final point It was a WELL over due Commission and I did not expect him to use it as a excuse for practicing or really experiemnting with something hes has NOT tried before.
I'm not complaining, I'm just rather unsatisfied but that doesn't mean I don't like it and that I'm putting Tim down.

Yes, you and Tim can have a little bit of quality time and when that time comes around.. give him encouragement.. remember he is leaving his comfort zone.. He drew nothing but HTF stuff for quite some time.

What did you do to help him out? Say that his efforts were an "embarrassment" to your character?
There is such a thing as pointing out what is wrong with a picture but doing so in a nice and constructive way that has a positive outcome for his later pictures that he might do in this style.
In my opinion, and I say this as kindly as I possibly can.. the way you talk to people is down-right rude and egotistic... You never ever have anything positive to say to anyone.. even to your best friend and you always act like you deserve everything on a gold platter :\
For maybe 5 mins could you read over what you wrote to Tim and ask yourself "Was I coming off as a complete asshole?"
