Haha I remember seeing this when I visited Melbourne. If I remember correctly there was also more interesting sculptures in that area. Pity I didn't have my camera on me. Great pic!

Yes, i think it is a permanent thing, seeming it has been there for about 2 years now *i think*
and around the docklands (big place now seeming there are buildings going up left right and centre) there are alot of sculptures and artworks.

OMYGOD - I laughed out loud and almost peed! That is the funniest cow I ever saw - in the spikiest tree i've ever seen - in the middle of a warf! Must have secret meanings no one is supposed to figure out!! Maybe it was the cow from the Wizard of Oz - the one in the tornado? Hey - maybe he's been to the otherside of the rainbow and back - perhaps thats why his head shrunk! LOL
Thanx 4 making my night!!!

Thanks for commenting so good I asked an austlalian girl who lived in Melboune for years about this cow and she didnΒ΄t know about it ("..must be king of arts project...."). You know, this is not only a very funny installation, it also has a very cool side effect to me: If I just had taken this picture and didnΒ΄t put it here on this page, and if not people like you would be commenting and reminding me to this picture, I maybe would have forgotten about this cow in this tree. But, as you comment, I start getting curious why this cow is there in this tree, who did it, I want to know the story behind it, and that is also a kind of art: creating something which keeps people thinking about it again and again.
But my own theorie is: this cow dropped out of a party one night, and was so drunk it didnΒ΄t know the way home , and in the end it found a place to sleep, not very comfy but hey, the cow was pretty drunk so it didnΒ΄t care about anything.
The cow found a sleeping place just in the middle of this tree, it is still sleeping so please, sssshhhhh, donΒ΄t shout or be loud because we donΒ΄t want to wake up this cow, it could fall out of the tree or at least it will suffer from a very very bad hangover!!

The awesomeness of this rivals most statues in Washington D.C.!
Excellant find! I would definatly spend like 10 minutes laughing to myself if I saw this in person...

Is it not part of "the cow Parade" it was a outdoor exibition in New york and I think, but am not sure that it was going to travel the world?

Maybe, it would make sense. I have to ask some people about this, I never heared about this art project.

Ah, that would be a shame, at least from your standpoint. I hope you can find a way to return someday.
