Description I saw this in Melbourne and found it pretty nice. I like the small feet and the small head. The blue sky with the clouds is a good contrast. One of the pictures I really like.
Does it make sense to put a cow like this in a tree? I dont think so. Weird. Great.

Haha I remember seeing this when I visited Melbourne. If I remember correctly there was also more interesting sculptures in that area. Pity I didn't have my camera on me. Great pic!

Yep, like this cow landed in the tree after flying around. Must be strange for a cow to find itself in a tree after a tornado

Scary, i see your gallery, and i see this, i was at the docklands just 2 days ago, i sat under that and had lunch. Intresting art that is, alot of it around the docklands.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RainCube In reply to drunkill [2005-09-03 06:48:09 +0000 UTC]

So you say its still there and there is more to discover? Great Maybe IΒ΄ll manage to get back there one day and find some of the other art.
IΒ΄m glad it is still there, it would be a shame to trash this one!

drunkill In reply to RainCube [2005-09-03 15:12:20 +0000 UTC]

Yes, i think it is a permanent thing, seeming it has been there for about 2 years now *i think*
and around the docklands (big place now seeming there are buildings going up left right and centre) there are alot of sculptures and artworks.

Is it a sculpture or a painting on the hospital wall? If you have the chance to take a picture of this one.....would be great

OMYGOD - I laughed out loud and almost peed! That is the funniest cow I ever saw - in the spikiest tree i've ever seen - in the middle of a warf! Must have secret meanings no one is supposed to figure out!! Maybe it was the cow from the Wizard of Oz - the one in the tornado? Hey - maybe he's been to the otherside of the rainbow and back - perhaps thats why his head shrunk! LOL
Thanx 4 making my night!!!

RainCube In reply to Esther-Syxx [2005-05-05 16:55:50 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for commenting so good I asked an austlalian girl who lived in Melboune for years about this cow and she didnΒ΄t know about it ("..must be king of arts project...."). You know, this is not only a very funny installation, it also has a very cool side effect to me: If I just had taken this picture and didnΒ΄t put it here on this page, and if not people like you would be commenting and reminding me to this picture, I maybe would have forgotten about this cow in this tree. But, as you comment, I start getting curious why this cow is there in this tree, who did it, I want to know the story behind it, and that is also a kind of art: creating something which keeps people thinking about it again and again.

But my own theorie is: this cow dropped out of a party one night, and was so drunk it didnΒ΄t know the way home , and in the end it found a place to sleep, not very comfy but hey, the cow was pretty drunk so it didnΒ΄t care about anything.
The cow found a sleeping place just in the middle of this tree, it is still sleeping so please, sssshhhhh, donΒ΄t shout or be loud because we donΒ΄t want to wake up this cow, it could fall out of the tree or at least it will suffer from a very very bad hangover!!

Thaty what I did when i saw it, quite strange but also funny....ItΒ΄s located somewhere in the docklands I think, a place which lacks from funny objects so it is perfectly put in place

Uh yes, itΒ΄s great. I stayed there for one week and am pretty sure I will visit it again this year. You can do lots of things there but I preferred to watch the people and test my camera. Melbourne was not too hot when I stayed there, I went to the north the next week where they had summer in the tropics. This was not so good

I visited Australia early this year when I met a friend of mine living in Port Douglas. Actually she plans to move to Europe but I hope she will stay in Port. Its a great place for vacation (and photography, however she said something like lost in paradise...) and I planned to visit her there again. Now plans might change
