When you spend a day browsing yokai.com you end up with all kinds of inspiration :I Anyone who knows the otoroshi knows I took a lot of creative liberty with that beast form as this looks like a hyena thing, unlike the original. But I'm happy with it either way~This creature guards shrines from high points as it can sense wicked people. Which it will jump on and maul to death and then devour them. Otherwise it doesn't like to show itself to people and preys on small animals like birds.
Katsuo took it upon himself to perch on the gate of an Inari shrine. The Myōbu that reside there are confused at his appearance but left him be as his being there would only help keep the shrine safe and pure.

it's interesting...tho it changed a lot from the original which was more "Grotesque" rather than "Ferocious" still it's good I guess

According to the sources I looked at it was just more eastern styled, wrinkly and with odder anatomy (most of its body being a head). Disturbing perhaps, but grotesque is not the word I’d use compared to some yokai xD but thanks

I love that beastie design. Is it a Raiju or is that just her last name and it's an Otoroshi? The otoroshi are blue hairy things xD I'm no good at eastern style heads though. And it was depicted with a head way larger than it's body. But my brain didn't want to do that.
