I can help explain how to use a base! First off, find a program to draw in. Like suggested, Gimp works really well. I, myself, use the paint program that every computer comes with. Now, some people use tablets to draw, but I just stick with the mouse. Like suggested, find some tutorials on here that explain how to use bases. They are very helpful! A key thing to remember is that hair is drawn above the head line (where the head is shown in the original base). This goes the same for clothes. If you want, you can look at some of the bases I have used and look at the original base to get some ideas. I hope that has helped!

A little practice and you'll start to get the hang of it. A suggestion to help understand how to do clothes and hair better: Start with a basic outline of what your doing (like a basic outline of the hair) and practice with that outline till you get it the way you want it. I always do a different color for each individual item (like hair one color and clothes another) and I start with a color different from what it is going to end up being. Then, when you're ready to color, change the outline to a darker color of what the item (hair, clothes, etc.) is going to be and then color the item with a lighter color than the outline. Some people also like to leave the outline black, which is another possibility, but I always like to make the outline a darker color. If you need any more help, feel free to ask me.

Aw Thank you and it isn't lame at all, we all need to start somewhere .

It's better easy when you get used to it. First you'll need a good graphics editor, I use gimp which is really good for base work, I think, I'm sure if you look around deviant art you'll find some good base tutorial, It's kinda hard to explain. Sorry if this doesn't really help .
