Can I ask how you made the tie? My friend wants to cosplay Fujimoto from Ponyo and I'm making it for her and have no idea how to make the tie XD

All it is, is a long rectangle piece that's 6"wide and 50" long. To tie it you wrap it around your neck twice, then tie the the ends together puff it up and stick it between your vest/jacket/w.e.

I found the hat base @ Michaels and I hand painted the diamonds on some red fabric, then I found the frilly stuff in my craft box and I hot glued it all to the hat.

What did you use to make the hat? I know how to make basic lolita hats that have a flat brim. I'm curious to know how to curve it like so.

Ooh! Cause I make my hats out of cardboard/foam board for the brim and top and layers of poster board/o-tag (sp?) as the what I'd guess you'd call the cylinder part? Then use fabric and ribbons and combs like so.
