Entry for the second week of the Pondpony Month FTO contest .

This is one of the mascots, Lilytad Splash , redesigned as an abyssal type pondpony. I really wanted to challenge myself to see if I could make a redesign that was still recognizable as Lilytad while being as different from her original design as possible! I went with an abyssal type because they seem like pretty much the exact opposite of freshwater types and are also my favourite. Abyssals have dark skin, luminescent markings, and glowing water, all of which I tried to use here.

The most difficult part of this design was that Lilytad's design heavily incorporates lily pads, and there is no such thing as lily pads that live in the deep ocean. So I had to get creative, and instead of lilypads and hanging moss I used phytoplankton! Diatoms specifically. The round and diamond-shaped phytoplankton are from this photo taken through a microscope . I only used 2 types here, but pretty cool how many different shapes of phytoplankton there are!

There's also no such thing as salterwater bioluminescent frogs, but shhh, let's ignore that one.
