I really like this picture. I like the linework and the vivid colors here, they look great. The beak on the front bird does look a little off, but that's a minor nit-pick on my part.

I was going to mention something about the second bird's face looking a little bit... off? Distorted? Anyway, wasn't sure if it was intended or not til I read your reply, and it doesn't really detract from the overall piece. As for the feet, I thought they looked OK.
Just a thought: how might things look with just the front bird alone? (Bye, bye back birdie... wasn't that a title to a play or musical? Never mind... dumb joke on my part. Moving right along...) Obviously, a single-bird portrait might require tightening up the page a bit (cropping, say, the left side so the overall picture surface is more skinny vertically). Eh, might be kind of boring with one lonely bird, though. The rear one helps lead the viewer's eye back into the page, too.
Sorry to seem both over-analytical and rambling all at once... I'm just writing as I react to the painting and to your comments. I was just musing about a 'what if' for a new one, should you choose to make another in this style, and still like the painting as is.

Go for it! The beauty of this design is that you can experiment with colors multiple times, and either post the best or post ALL of them as variations on a theme. By the way, I DO like the current cool colors of the bird(s) against the warm background, but I can also picture the bird with fiery yellows & reds, too. (Must be because of the 'swirliness' of the plumage/feathers, I guess.)
I don't know... seems like you might get a lot of mileage from this one idea if you choose to. In any case, have fun!

BTW, this was supposed to be a reply to your reply, NOT a new comment; something got wonky with the formatting when I previewed & edited, and it posted as a new comment instead.

This has something of a stained glass feel (or rather, look) to it thanks to the simplicity/stylization.
In my opinion, this particular piece is the strongest in your AP folder. Which I suppose is an 'art teacher' way of saying "I like this!" (No, I'm not an art teacher, but I've studied under many of them. LOL)
