My method??
I rub a coat of linsed oil on the canvas, stare at it . . . . . . . . . . ,
load a brush with color, draw some lines . . . . . . . .,
. . . . . . . . stare at it some more,
then maybe wipe the canvas to draw some fresh lines,
maybe stare at it some more,
sooner or later some thing comes to me or some line carries me off to paint the painting,
. . . . . . . . . then I think and inprove on it.
from 5 to 15 days for a painting.
either i listen to music of some song starts playing in my mind when I paint.

wow.. very inspiring. I havn't had much experience with painting but your methods definitely seem effective! I usually have time constraints on my artwork so for once I'd love to just paint when I'm inspired. Music definitely helps though!

the other method is . . . .
I start with help of a photograph which is soon forgotten . . . . . . . .
or some times I have to refer to it (the photograph) again
