I loved working with the juxtaposition between the stocky dwarf and elongated insectoid Umber Hulk. The help emphasise the disparity in the relationship I put the Dwarf into the shadow cast by his monstrous companion. This in turn helped provide the different focal points of light against dark and vice versa.

Yeah, there is a nice contrast between the shapes of the Umber Hulk and the Dwarf. Another thing that is noticable are the unreadable/expressionless face of the Umber Hulk and the grim and determined look in the dwarf's eyes. Makes one wonder all the more how the dwarf (or one or more of his friends) succeeded in making so fierce a creature submit.

I love the artistic considerations you put in your artwork. In the old days when D&D was young, people just drew up, pen & ink, doodles of the beasts without any real idea beyond "oh, this'll look cool!" There's an elegance in how you handle these classic subjects.

I love how this really adds a bit of culture to the dwarves.
I feel like the classic elves, ogres, and dwarves tend to be these very simplistic and stareotipical people. but this adds a bit of lore and detail

No doubt it was very well made, and you had a great opportunity drawing for RPG books.
I still think the rpg is 'running away' from the medieval fantasy, but... I'm very happy for your talent and oportunity.

Haha, I never thought someone could tame an umber hulk. I can see why it'd be a dwarf though. They're stubborn and strong enough to be the perfect race for the job.

fuuack Just wow!! just wow!! totally killing it! My eyes are watering from the shock of your talent.
Don't get me wrong, digital art is amazing but when you can do the stuff you do on canvas to this level...trumps digital art for me every time. When i get my finances in order, acrylics and oil is definitely something I will be pursuing.
