'As his Feywild home burned around him Viltham still managed a wicked smile; revenge would be cold, icy cold.'

This piece of art was created for the packaging of Dungeons & Dragons fortune cards, as such it had very specific layout requirements, which I cover in my blog:

The green of Viltham's clothing and hair naturally provided a nice contrast to the orange background and helps draw the eye to his head, this is further accentuated by the blue of his magical orb which creates a lovell triumvirate of colours and focus.

The foreshortening of his arm helps provide depth and drama, which is then emphasised by the strong orange back rim light.

The perspective is great, foreshortening really works wonderfully to pull me in. Orange and green, though, wow... I wear that combination all the time but never thought it'd work in a fantasy setting. Very well executed!

This is fantastic, you've really setting the new fantasy art standard. I hope you live for eternity. <3

Also it's good to see you doing more hands in that pose, the last image you posted on your blog
with these hands you were happier with the original sketch. But these ones really stand out well. Also thanks for the detailed processes on your blog and da, you wouldn't believe how much us anatabees appreciate it.

This is a wonderfully vertigo-inducing image; one can really feel the height and precariousness, and the slanted horizon throws into even more forcefully into the image. Very effective indeed.
