Description The 2nd Lt. Gil Hanley was the Platoon Leader on the American classic TV show “COMBAT!”.
His squad of American soldiers fought in France during World War II, in the King Company.
Lieutenant Gil Hanley was superbly played by Rick Jason.
Combat was a Selmur Production, created by Robert Pirosh.
Possibly this is the first drawing of 2nd Lt. Gil Hanley here in Deviant Art and possibly the very first of Rick Jason as well. I’m very glad to be able to honor this great actor and his great character.
I made this drawing using B, HB and 6B pencils in 200 g/m2 A4 paper. It took me around 4 hours to finish it.

Awesome!
I used to love that show when I was a kid and yet I
didn't know his first name was Gil.

"Combat" and "Rat patrol" were my favourites.

Thank you! I recently discovered that his first name was Gil as well. I also used to watch this show when I was a kid, "Rat Patrol" too,and now I'm having the pleasure to re-watch it after many many years, since our TCM Channel is airing it. I plan many more drawings based on this show. They will come in the future.

How did TCM come to be broadcasting Combat!?

TCM in Brazil aired Combat for some time, but unfortunately it's gone now. They aired only some episodes, not the whole series.

Ah, so TCM is airing some classic TV after all (just not here in North America.) Well, this more than supports the idea of this article (We need a TCM for television  ).

Well, they are not airing it anymore here in Brazil. Unfortunately. But they still have some old classics.

I've never watched the show but the use of shading and lighting is very effective making him look so real
