What if in 1957, the then West German federal government seriously the flag used by Saar during the interwar years (1919-35) as the new flag of Saarland as the protectorate rejoined Bonn (at the time) as its newest state.Basically, the ATL flag of Saarland was basically the combination of the flag used in the region from 1919 to 1935 and the state coat of arms .

well, as they couldn't agree on common colours - the French suggested/chose the german colours

same happened in Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) , they couldnยดt agree on which colours should be taken, so somebody did the decision for them ^^
